Chicken cake topper?

*~WiiFeY~*, on March 7, 2011 at 5:38 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 24

Breaking my silence to ask for WR help lol

FS is a chicken farmer, and I want a chicken cake topper SO bad! Specifically a bride/groom chicken. I have only found one so far, and I don't like it, nor can I afford $95 for a cake topper. (This is what I've found: http://www.etsy.com/listing/59103630/chicken-wedding-cake-topper ..I do NOT like that one. I want it more realistic)

I found another one on ebay that was already sold, of two chickens. It was cute, but not available. Anyone wanna try and help me out and find one? I might eventually make an alchemy request on Etsy if I don't find what I want..

Did you contact the seller that made the sold one? They might be willing to make another one.

Could you make one? Do you mean you want the boy chicken in a bow tie and the girl chicken in a veil (or something similar)?

You can try this Etsy seller: http://www.etsy.com/shop/melabo?section_id=5917678

I've been thinking of animal toppers, too, and that seller has been adding to the animals she makes over the past year or so. You might try contacting her and see if she could do a chicken topper for you.

    Best of luck!

Well, most of her stuff is kind of "artsy" and not really what I want. Plus its entirely too expensive. I'm looking for something that looks more like a real chicken lol Kind of like the ones in the picture I'm attaching, but not exactly. I'd settle for that one if I could find it somewhere!

Sorry for butting in here, I've never posted on the wedding forums before but I couldn't help seeing what this post was about. :-) Have you asked your cake baker to see if she/he could make one out of gumpaste for you? That's what I would do for a client in this circumstance. Never hurts to ask, anyway! Smiley smile

Lynley- That's my last resort. I'm not very crafty!

Analy- HA Smiley smile Yes, like that! That's the one I just posted Smiley winking Its sold, so do I just contact her and see if she can make another one??

Home Run Cakes- My grandma makes wedding cakes from her home, she's not a professional by any means, but she does a great job. I don't think she's THAT crafty though Smiley smile

How about looking at making Salt and pepper shakers work for you? If you dress them up you can hide the holes.

Crazy idea- with Easter coming up, I wonder if you can get some cute chicks somewhere- even a dollar store. Some sort of trinkets that you can add a piece of ribbon for a veil and bowtie...

You may not be crafty, but you've got plenty of friends who are...

What about eggs instead of chickens? Black and White Easter eggs? I think you have options here.

Well, I contacted the seller and let her know what my price limit was, and I'll just have to wait and see what she says Smiley smile If it isn't do-able, then I'll certainly be looking for Easter stuff! That's a really good idea. I like the salt and pepper shaker idea too Smiley smile I'll keep my eyes out.

These are really inexpensive. they look easy enough to paint. I could give you some pointers, I paint ceramics all the time!
