So... what's everyone's opinion about Chinese food at a wedding?

It is kind of informal, but our wedding is going to be at a barn, so I figured that Chinese (besides southern food- too easy for people to be picky with that) is a safe choice!

@greenebunny - you'll get an invite for that AWESOME idea! Smiley winking

Just be aware of MSG allergies, they're not uncommon. Otherwise sounds great!

My brother is getting married in July to a Chinese girl and they are having a traditional Chinese meal...they sent a sample menu to my family and it is NOT what we would find at a Chinese restaurant

Ugh I can't eat it. I get sick every time I try. I'd suggest a backup for sure.

I think that's such a unique idea! The only thing is I know someone who is allergic to sesame (which is in or has been in contact with like, every takeout dish) so that's something to be wary of. I know it's not super common, but still.

I love the idea!! We are actually doing Atlantic City famous subs, including meatballs to make meatballs parm subs and a local 90 year old traditional AC style pizzas since my FH and I both grew up in the same little neighborhood in Atlantic City, we wanted tradional food from our lives. People we have spoken to love it!

Like "Chinese" food from those places that you call for takeout or authentic Chinese food? If you do a dim sum kind of thing, I think that's pretty interesting and unique.

My sister's biggest wedding regret is that she didn't just do it at the private room of the local chinese restaurant! 12 years later it still makes her sad!

She worked there at the time (as the bartender, general manager, help with English-only tasks) and knew how quality the food was (and that the owners would have done "special" less-Americanized stuff for her) but only thought of it after invites had gone out and she was looking at RD spots.

I would definitely prefer good Chinese food over crappy banquet food any day!
