Chinese lanterns or sparklers

Does anyone have experience with Chinese lanterns or sparklers to end the night. We are thinking about doing either or .. my venue says that it depends on wind for Chinese lanterns so not sure if I should spend the money. And with the sparklers I have no idea where to start

Chinese lanterns are terrible for the environment. If your venue allows sparklers, I'd go with those or find something else.

I agree with the glow sticks. I wouldn't trust people that have been drinking all night with sparklers...

Do sparklers, they make for beautiful pictures. Our venue is on the bay and we do not allow the laterns. I would think most places would not either.

Check with your venue if you're allowed to have either. At my venue I can use sparklers, but no Chinese lanterns.

I went to a wedding in that used sparklers. It was super cute but I was nervous someone was going to burn something. But they had water jugs brought out when the couple exited so it gave me piece of mind. After the exit everyone placed their sparkler in the water jug. In the end it was super cute and well executed.

Omg we went to a backyard wedding with those lanterns and they almost set their house on fire. Definitely skip those!

Our wedding coordinator advises against lanterns. Tricky, get caught in trees, land lit on roofs, and bad for environment. She also has seen tipsy guests and kids get burned with sparklers. We are considering glow sticks in our wedding colors.

Lanterns can cause lots of damage to the environment and can start fires!! Scary stuff!

We got biodegradable sky lanterns and they were a hit. If you really want to do them go with it

My dad lit a lantern once and it landed on the neighbors house. My cousin scrambled for a hose and luckily put it out but ... I'd skip them.
