Chinese Tea Ceremony

K. T., on February 13, 2020 at 2:13 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 6
My fiancé and I have decided to do a Chinese tea ceremony (I'm Chinese; he is not). I know it usually takes place the day of the wedding, but would it be okay to do it at the rehearsal dinner? Or would that be considered bad luck? I don't want to make the morning of the wedding even more hectic by including the tea ceremony, and I definitely don't want to interrupt time for photos or the reception when time at the venue is already limited and expensive.

Yes! One of my friends did this and it was awesome! He was Chinese and she wasn't. They did the tea ceremony as the main focal point of the rehearsal dinner. It was beautiful. After the tea ceremony, we had a wonderful 11 course Chinese dinner.

Idk about the bad luck thing. In my opinion, as long as you don't think it's bad luck, it's not bad luck.

I see your concern because you'd have to wake up EXTRA early if you did a tea ceremony on the day of

It's really up to you. You might want to ask the parents for their opinion? We are doing our Chinese ceremony the day of because we will be playing games, and it just makes more sense for me.

My parents are divided! Mom is highly skeptical, my dad thinks it should probably be okay.

The day before or even after the wedding is the way to go. Leave your wedding day morning free for any last minute delays, changes, etc and just a chance to relax. I'm no expert but a quick Google search led me to this helpful guide with organizing your tea ceremony. Their recommendation is just that.
