Chocolate fountain tacky?

Lauren, on October 10, 2011 at 9:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

My wedding is Chocoate and Champagne theme and we're going to have this whole setup of chocolate treats. cookies, cupcakes, truffles, etc... I was thinking of having a chocolate fountain with things like strawberries and marshmellows. Is that too tacky or cheap? It seems like something you'd only have a prom lol and if it is okay what other treats could we use for it?

I think it's great! There will be a line and a bit of a mess, but it will be a hit. Pretzels, apples, bananas, and angel food cake or poundcake bites are also good for fondue dipping.

I find them to be a bit messy and usually the chocolate from them isn't that good.

I would maybe have different types of chocolate, so many unique kinds out there now. Check vosages website for ideas. You also do a souffle, mousse, creme brulee, macaroons (the french kind) and pie.

Not tacky just make sure you have someone their to man the table...especially if you have kids at your wedding. People need to be reminded not to double dip, not to reach in for items that have fallen of their sticks etc. You will also want someone there to clean up the mess. The line also gets kinda long so if you do it it might be wise to do two.

I love chocolate fountains. I haven't seen one at a wedding in awhile, I think it would be a hit.

I went to a graduation party this May that had a fountain---with RANCH DRESSING in it! EWWWWW It was so wierd! Chocolate-great idea. Ranch dressing, not so much. I should do that--why not, when all of us will already have salsa and guac all over our finery, what's a little chocolate?

EWWW! but chocolate fountain sounds delightful for me! go for it! but again... watch the little ones sticky fingers after haha or your dress might have some added stains!

Ketchup--That is sooooo funny. I'm sure my FH would love it if I would give him a hot tub full of ketchup for his birthday.

OMG, I love those things. Tacky? No. Messy? Yes.

I recommend strawberries, bananas, pineapple (amazing), granny smith apples (also awesome), marshmallows, Oreos, graham crackers, and pretzels. You'd be surprised by the number of fruits that go well will chocolate.

Not tacky at all. My venue actually includes the fountain in my package. It will be used during cocktail hour for strawberries, pineapples pretzels and whatever else they throw in. I say go for it.

I think its great, we'r going to have one at our wedding, FH really wants it. You could do rice crispy treats on a stick, bananas, of course strawberries, and not really sure what else.

We've never really liked them because the chocolate you use in them is very subpar or has been modified with some science to stay running and smooth. It all comes down to your level of acceptability in quality. One thing we've been offering is dipping stations where we have a server keep fresh hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, and flavored whipped creams stocked. You can keep the quality and taste excellent.
