Choosing a mua

I had two trials. The first I knew was not going to work, there were way too many things I wanted to change after the fact that gave me a pit in my stomach thinking about feeling that way the day-of.
I went into the second trial wanting to see what the MUA was capable of - how well they blended eyeshadow, what foundation and coverage methods they used, how they filled in my brows, etc. I also wanted to see how receptive they were to making tweaks on the spot (the first MUA wouldn’t let me look in the mirror until she was done ). It wasn’t 100% perfect, but my tweaks were really minor and mostly about choosing different eyeshadow colors.

Seriously consider a mua that is near your age. They'll be more familiar with your skin type and style for your age. My mua does killer eyebrows, and skin, but because she's younger than me. She does beautiful makeup for a woman in her 20s, not so much for a woman in her late 30s. My hairstylist is my age and has also done my makeup in the past and she gets exactly what my needs are.

I picked mine based off her before and after pictures on Instagram. I love her style. She can do natural, soft glam and mega glam and all 3 styles look amazing. To me that shows that she will be able to pull off any look I want. It sounds like you know what you want so look for someone that has similar style and is all around good. A good MUA can give you the exact look you want.
