How did you choose your hair and make-up artist? How far in advance did you book? We are getting married December 2021.

I booked mine ten months out. I picked someone who was professional, had a good portfolio, communicated well, and was decently priced.

I actually found the company here on WW. I searched her website, FB pages and then called her. She was so responsive, friendly and accommodating. I then did a trial and knew I wanted to work with her.

I booked mine a little later than I wanted to - about 6 months before my original date. I searched online for as many hair/makeup artists in the area as possible, and when I found the one I ended up booking, her pricing was in the range I was looking for, and her portfolio looked great, so I decided to pay the deposit to reserve my date.

I booked about a year out. I researched vendors on WW and The Knot, and also checked out local wedding FB groups.

As someone who is extremely picky, I went with a separate MUA and hair stylist. At least in my area, when looking through portfolios of work, I felt like vendors visibly excelled in one area over the other.

For my MUA, I looked at her website, went through her Instagram, etc., and then made the final decision when I was on an initial phone consultation with her. We did my trial for my engagement photos and she did a beautiful job!

I had a very difficult time booking a hair stylist. Many of them were just.. not responsive. I ended up finding a company through a FB vendor group and she has been wonderful; my trial is in about a month.

I booked both about 14 months out.

I researched HMUA in my area with good reviews and looked at their portfolio. Once I found one's I liked, I scheduled trials. I ended up liking the first trial I had, so I booked her. I think I booked 7 months before my wedding.

For my hair stylist, I actually found her through the CT forums, someone had recommended her so I looked up her work and loved what I saw. My MUA I found on Thumbtack and I also looked up her work and liked what she did. I just booked both of mine last week and my wedding is November 2021, so I did 16 months out, but I like to plan everything early to make sure I have who I want.

I booked ours 12 months out and did a trial before booking. I actually did two trails before booking and I'm thankful I did, the first one I expected to be great and she disappointed me for sure. I looked on Wedding Wire at reviews and emailed the top 10-15 in our area for pricing then selected the ones who were professional, licensed, had actual businesses/websites, and were in our price range.

I actually found mine on Instagram by looking up hashtags...I found my makeup artist almost a year in advance and had a makeup trial around 10 months prior. The reason I did it so soon was in case I wasn't happy and needed to find a different artist. Thankfully I did it that way because I wasn't happy with my 1st MUA but ended up finding another one I loved. Good luck!

We booked in November 2019 for our June (now December) 2020 wedding. We are getting married on a golf resort in a town that is basically built around the resort so our choices were limited. I went based on the recommendations from our event planner at our wedding venue and online commentary. I have to say we have been very happy with our service so far!
