Christian Themed wedding

Gee O. aka Happily Wifed Up, on February 9, 2012 at 1:47 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

So I have been going with the "no theme" style of wedding and just mixing up all nice ideas I have come across. But I got this idea form one of the thread about naming the tables, and I think this will be a good way to theme up my wedding just a lil bit. Has anyone considered using things from the bible to theme up your wedding? If yes, what was it?

FH proposed to me with 1 Corinthians 13 verse on love, I would like to incorporate it in, but I have no idea how to.

Ideas please??

Thanks

We used that verse on our invitations. You could do table names like love, hope, faith, family, marriage, strength..with a Bible verse that talks about each word. I think that would be beautiful!

How many tables do you guys have? You could name them with key words from that verse (patient, kind, protect, trust, hope, persevere, faith, hope, love... etc).

@ Allison that's a cute idea. We might do each table being a different book of the Bible with a small scripture underneath from that book pertaining to love..my family is not Christian though so I'm not sure everyone will appreciate it like we do!

Ok so we have 12 tables in total, and this was my idea:

On the headtable we will have it called LOVE

    then the rest tables

    is PATIENT

    is KIND

    is NOT JEALOUS

    is NOT PROUD

    is NOT SELF SEEKING

    records NO WRONG

    rejoices in TRUTH

    always TRUSTS

    always HOPES

    always PERSEVERES

    always PROTECTS

So I am thinking, on the paper, the ones in upper case letters would be the bolded things, then just by the side of the paper, we would have the ones in lower case.

But the problem I am encountering is that it might get too wordy so i am trying to revamp the words and make them just one word, but its kind of hard to revamp a word like "is not jealous" to one word. lol

LoL yea that was my first idea but I was trying to get it down to just one word per table (and I didn't want to use the "not" words and make the tables "jealous" "proud" etc)

You could always make the other words smaller so it wont look awkward... let me design something up real quick and post it...

We have 1 Corinthians 13:4 on our unity candle, I also have crystal crosses that will hang from our wedding arch, we are also giving out cross design bookmarks as favors.

    Our invites will read.....

Desiring God's will for their lives

and believing that includes each other

    Claudette ______

    and

    VonErick _______

    together with their families

invite you to share their joy

as they are united in the Lord Jesus Christ

    on ____________ etc etc etc.

I am also making a bible bouquet to carry instead of the traditional... something like the pics below.

You could use verses form the bible on love to be the names of your tables, and the head table could be named with the verse that he purposed to you.

You could vamp it up better with diff fonts and colors... but to get the point... just make the other words smaller and do the "one word table name" in big letters to stand out

I loooove the invite! I really do! I considered the bibles for the BMs too but I figured that they might be a little bit on the pricey side for my budget for the BMs so, I am having them hold a few stems of flowers.

Oh tell me about it! We decided instead of Valentines gifts were would just buy new bibles and they have gotten to be quite the expense! The one FH wants is $70, and mine is $30 (which isn't too bad of a price overall I guess... mine has busy mom devotionals and his will be a quest study bible since he's new at this and wants to learn more about the bible).

But considering our current ones were free from church $100 is quite the expense LoL but well worth it :-) much better then yet another bracelet or necklace I hardly wear or flowers that will die in a few days...

I think this is a great idea.. what a beautiful and loving feeling it will lend to the room!

If you happen to be doing a served dinner, try remember to provide a table-chart to your caterers. I've been doing some reading and sometimes table names vs numbers can bring an air of confusion to your serving staff. They know that #1 is near #2 is near #3 and so forth... but not necessarily that Patient is next to Kind is near Truth is near Hope... etc.

Just something to keep in the back of your mind. Smiley smile

Thanks Jessica, I thought of that. But the good thing is that there will be food served already on their tables, all the caterers will be doing is refilling them when they run out till the event is over.

So I am guessing the only problem will be finding the table that is empty and going to refill but that could be easily handled since I would assume that it is the same person that notices or is told the food is finished, that will be the one to go and bring more so as long as they have good memory, they should be able to remember...hopefully thats how it works though!
