Christmas in November?

Shawn & Kelly, on November 12, 2016 at 8:32 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

We choose early November so that his family would still have decent driving weather from Rochester, NY to us in Charlotte, NC before snow season starts. We have decided on a Thanksgiving themed meal for the reception, but I would really love to do a Christmas themed decor/colors. Would that be tacky though??

Eh. I'm not a fan of "themed" weddings. I think they can go from zero to tacky child's party very quickly. That being said, I'd go more deep fall colors than blatantly Christmas.

    A few considerations:

Does everyone you plan to invite celebrate Christmas? If not, this is not the way to go.

A "Thanksgiving dinner" really just means turkey and the fixings...you don't have to call it Thanksgiving and I wouldn't for a wedding.

I think you could get away with winter colors but I would stay away from Christmas decor. Personally I hate anything Christmas before Thanksgiving. Here are a few ideas.

You can do it tastefully without overwhelming people with Christmas before Thanksgiving, and without offending anyone. I'll attach a few photos I found. They'll be one at a time because I'm on mobile.

I think a really dark green with wine and gold accents would be beautiful!

Ok, guess I'll just stick to my original color scheme of navy, white, and silver.

We're the opposite. Having family and friends drive up to Rochester, NY from Charlotte, NC :-).

I do not have much advice about themes, but they aren't something I like. However, you should do whatever will make you and your FH happy!

It really depends on what you have in mind. I don't think the colors would matter because you can have whatever colors you want for your wedding, it doesn't matter what season it is. I would probably make it more winter themed instead of Christmas.
