How super lame would it be to have a Christmas themed wedding in June?

I think it would be weird in June but I would totally get it if it was July. Lol like Christmas in July would be a funny/fun theme!

Would it be weird? Well, yeah. But I agree with the Christmas in July comment. Would be better to play off of that and actually have your wedding in July than June. If it is really what you want go for it! It's your day! Smiley smile

I watch enough Hallmark channel to know Christmas in July is definitely a thing, and while I think its definitely odd, I don't mean that negatively. We even had Christmas in July at our campground where people decorated their camp sites in Christmas lights and there was a parade. I think you'd really have to either go totally all out, and really make it feel wintery, or tone it down a ton and do only jewel tones and maybe plaid accents? (no fake snow!) I would do whatever makes you happy, but no matter what make sure you do it well. Make sure you carry the theme throughout the events. Maybe hint it in your save the dates with a snowy backdrop for engagement pictures this winter (since that would be 6 months out, an appropriate time to send them) you could even send them in the form of a Christmas card. Your invites could be white, snowy, or emerald green jewel toned? If you're making a wedding website, I'd probably put on there that it is Christmas themed or something, too.

Probably nothing weirder than a tacky Christmas party, with confused guests, and Christmas hymns playing as you walk down the aisle.

I think it may be difficult to get evergreen for your florals, and I agree July would make more sense. I think as others have said that if you're gonna do it you need to go all out and make it extravagant and you have to have the money for that.

Why not do it between Thanksgiving and Christmas? People are getting into the Christmas spirit and there typically is a lull in the travel because people do most of their traveling around Thanksgiving or Christmas. I’ve never tried to fly during these times, but I would guess that tickets aren’t as expensive as the Christmas holidays. And the weather is typically more mild than Christmas/New Years. It’s no guarantee, but I’ve heard of New England brides having really horrible weather in the summer because of hurricanes, so ya never know with the weather.

If you do it you have to full on commit! I have a half Christmas party every year though and it’s always super fun.

Yeah I'm thinking July instead of June as well. That's when they celebrate Christmas in Australia right? I'm a zookeeper in the Australian section so that sort of makes it fitting too! We would go all out for sure!!

The whole "it's your day!" thing that gets overused is actually applicable here. I'm assuming you are planning on hosting your guests well. As long as you are doing that there is no problem with doing a Christmas wedding. I'll admit I would think a Christmas theme in any month besides December would be really odd, but if it's what you and your FS want I say go for it! Some of your guests may think it's odd too though, so be prepared for that.

I gotta say I... kinda love it. As was said by a previous poster, I think you'll need to decide early on if you want to be suuuper subtle or go absolutely all out (and that anything in between could get pretty weird) but as long as you're hosting your guests well with plenty of food and booze and a chair for every butt, then you should absolutely do Christmas if you want Christmas.

Regarding Australia, my understanding is that they still celebrate Christmas on December 25, it's just that December falls in the middle of their summertime. If any part of your wedding is taking place outdoors (thus making it difficult to pull of a big wintery Christmas like you could in a fully indoor venue), then checking out how the Aussies handle their midsummer Christmas might give you some great decor ideas.

Yes- you may have to add a little ‘cheese’ to your invites so before coming people very clearly know it’s a Christmas theme so they walk in knowing that!

Yes, I lived in Australia for 6 months, they celebrate Christmas when it's actually Christmas.

Australia celebrates Christmas on December 25th, not in July. It just happens to be their summer, not winter.

Christmas in summer is totally normal. . . If it takes place at Christmastime in the southern hemisphere. In June, not so much. I'd find it a little strange.

We still decorate trees and with lights etc but it's more the green/red rather than winter wonderland.

Fozen hot chocolate barChristmas in the summer 1

I think it would fun. It would have to be done tongue in cheek though, and strike the right tone as kitschy and fun. It would be wierd if it was presented in a serious way.

If you have your heart set on a Christmas wedding in June, then go for it! It definitely would be something different.

I would be totally excited to go to a Christmas in July themed wedding lol. Especially if it was an all out winter wonderland thing.

It would probably be weird unless the venue fit. For example, where we usually go in Tennessee there is a Christmas hotel that is Christmas year round and if somewhere like that did weddings it would be fine...but if it were just a regular wedding venue people may find it strange.
