Chuppah for an indoor wedding

Hillary Kate, on January 27, 2016 at 1:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

We'd like to make a chuppah for an indoor wedding. Has anyone done this? I'm finding DIY chuppah instructions, but most of them are large for the outdoors, and include big cement buckets which are ugly AF.

We have lots of them, usually birch or other tree branches, and yes, cement buckets which can be hidden with fabric (or you can do without the buckets and have four people hold the chuppah poles, which is really a bit more traditional....

This was one I saw when looking through pictures of my own venue:

Ours is made out of PVC pipe and stands in cinder blocks (Spelling?). The fabric will cover the cinder blocks

My cousin bought one off a bride on Craigslist that has a full pvc pipe frame so that it stands on its own. All the pipe is covered in fabric.

We didn't make it (rabbi supplied) but our indoor chuppah was made out of narrow poles (I think they were pvc pipe, but not sure) that snapped together like a pipe & drape system. It had weighted bases that the poles fit into. The poles were covered with lace and some flowers.

For our chuppah bases, we're borrowing four metal patio umbrella stands from friends & family. Super sturdy and not bad looking besides.

Am in the same boat! My FH aunt who is doing the ceremony has one but with half poles that we just found out about. Tried to rent one and was quoted at over 500 not including set up and transport.....Just this morning bought wooden poles and umbrella based and will probably pick up some fabric and or flowers as time allows. Will update after wedding
