chuppah holder ideas?

Aronna, on August 12, 2013 at 8:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 2

Thinking of a chuppah made with white lights, but I'm stuck on a good idea for the holders.

Something to stabilize the poles. I don't want to ask anyone to hold it up.

any inexpensive ideas?

My friend did this: The poles and support beams for the corners are birch branches that we ordered online. We drilled holes and used nuts and bolts - so the structure was able to be taken apart but still very sturdy. We wrapped the nuts/bolts with rope when we set it up at the venue, for aesthetics. The bases are some flower pots we got at Lowe's, stuck PVC pipe in the middle to hold the birch, and then we filled the pots with concrete to make them heavy. And then put green moss on top to (hopefully) hide the concrete and PVC.

I think I am going to use planters and fill them mostly with rocks and sand. I got really tall shepards hooks and I will stick those in the planters. Then the canopy attached to the shepards hooks.

My friends was blowing over at her wedding so she ended up having to have 4 of the GMs hold it! It didn't look tacky either so if worse comes to worse you can always do that
