Hi everyone,
I want to cancel my church reservation due because i got my dream church. I have signed thr agreement a few months back which says $750 non refundable along with signed agreement reserves the date. However i didnt pay yet due to a pending confirmation which they said i can pay once its confirmed. Now that i wanna cancel the entire contract, do you think i should pay?

I would assume you are held to the payment, if it says you owe it in the contract you signed. But they may waive that fee if you cancel early enough.

If the date has yet to be confirmed, I wouldn’t think that you would have to pay yet.

You definitely shouldn't pay if you're trying to cancel.

What is the holdup on the confirmation (it's been months?)

I understand you signed an agreement saying you were on the hook for the 750 but you still haven't gotten your confirmation, so I don't see the issue in just cancelling.

The $750 is to confirm your date. You haven’t confirmed your date. I don’t think you should have to pay.

Date is confirmed. They told me to wait till january to confirm whether they will finish the construction if not they will give me a different church under the diocese. Both churches are good and they r holding both for us.

Maybe tell them things have changed and you can’t wait that long for them to confirm anymore? If you haven’t paid then yeah technically you don’t have a date. I’d call them today and get the ball rolling to cancel

I doubt the church is going to try very hard to enforce the contract if you cancel. They never confirmed and held the date without payment. It’s not your fault. Be courteous and let them now soon that you no longer need the Church.

I think you have to read that contract

basically if 750 was to confirm date and they held date for you but waited on construction to confirm and you agreed then it’s possible you would lose in small claims court

that being said I agree with Rae and really cannot see your church persuing this with a civil claim against you in small claims court

i could be wrong but actually if you’re that concerned you can check public records and see if church has ever sued (have equals probably will again versus never have is generally not because your issue never occurred before)

still with EVERYONE: email tonight and call and text and clearly cancel
