Cigar Bar: classy or trashy

My FH and I love the 1920's/Art Deco time period and are trying to incorporate that into our wedding. This is mainly fun for the guests and decoration. Do you feel it would be distasteful? I'm hoping to have it look similar to this with more space, cigars, and decor.

We will be having one! FH and I really enjoy a good cigar and so does my dad and several of our guests. We have a designated cigar area.

O&L: my uncle is very much into cigars so I was going to have him help me pick! I figured I'd have a variety of 4 of so!

I don't smoke (even sigars) but I think if it's right for you and your crowd it could be a nice touch!

I love these and wished I could have found a way to incorporate it in our reception. The only place we could have had it though was on the patio near the bar, and I didn't want folks to congregate out there instead of on the dance floor. I think it is a great idea though, if you don't mind it taking away from the inside entertainment!

FH and I talked about this when we were considering a venue with an outdoor fire pit...would have been fun for guests to smoke cigars by the fire.

Just make sure you have a space where people can smoke that is separate from the crowd...outdoors and away from where people will be able to smell it

It's not just a sensitivity to smoke, cigar smoke has a very distinctive smell and I think, as do many other people it has a repulsive smell. I don't mind regular cigarette smoke but cigar smoke gives me a raging headache and I imagine it does for others as all.

I was at a casino last week that allows smoking, it's actually a very nice resort casino and the industrial fans seem to take care of the smoke smell, however there were people there smoking cigars and it was just a hideous smell.

This is a know your crowd deal, if you have large amount of guests who smoke cigars I think it could work on the patio yet if you're not sure who'd enjoy a cigar I'd skip it.

We are planning to have one! Our venue has a beautifully re-done patio, so we will host it out there. My dad is actually the president of a local cigar club, so he can get some good deals on decent cigars. I think it adds a nice touch and something different to weddings.

I wouldn't want anyone having a cigar near my wedding dress. The smell is AWFUL.

@Gracie. Hi, I think it's a cool idea, especially how these men love cigars..lol I think as long as you are providing this outside, it should be nice. It's different, go for it!

@LynZLeigh, you are right about that! Yuk... but I think if she has this cigar bar outside, it should be cool..

Better idea than the WEED bar at a wedding someone attended on my Facebook!

I'm sure this varies widely by region, but I live in Silicon Valley and can't imagine essentially saying to my wedding guests, "Thanks for coming-- enjoy this and die young!"

@Y&F, nothing outside would be far enough from my dress and hair! But if OP has less of an aversion, it would look cute. Although, I have to say, it might annoy me as a guest too. I am disproportionately grumpy about cigar smoke.

While I don't find it necessarily "trashy" I really don't think it's classy either. I HATE the smell of smoke and would hate to be any where near that.

My only worry with this is even if it is far, what if it's a windy day? I wouldn't be into that.

I like the idea as long as guests smoke them outside

I have no issues with cigars, DH smokes them on special occasions and when we go on vacation. My grandfather also smoked cigars. I actually considered having a cigar bar at my wedding BUT rethought it after seeing a cigar bar at a friend's wedding -- guests spent so much of the reception outside, instead of dancing!! I really did NOT want that to happen at our wedding!
