Cigar Bar

Amanda, on May 5, 2017 at 2:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

Sorry if someone recently posted about this but I'm on mobile and can't search. I'm trying to create a DIY cigar bar for my FH at our wedding. I want it to be a surprise so I can't exactly ask his opinion on cigars. I know of JR Cigars near my house. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!

I think it's an awesome idea! Look into you local cigar stores and see if they offer services for events. One thing I will suggest is to just keep it in an area where there is plenty of air circulating, not everyone likes/can tolerate cigar smoke so I would maybe put a designated area outside for cocktail hour or something!

They stink, no matter how far away from a door they are. People go in and out the reception room doors to smoke, and the smell comes inside. We attended a wedding last year that had a cigar bar outside, and my mother had to leave early.

She was recently trying to stand in line, at a pharmacy, and a cigar smoker was in front of her. A few people asked her if she was in the line. She said "yes, but smoke triggers my asthma, so I can't stand any closer."

I think it would be better suited for a bachelor party.

I don't know that I'd do this honestly. Our venues don't allow smoking inside or immediately outside.

Could you have a selection sort of as favors?

Is the cigar bar just for FH or do a lot of other guests also smoke cigars? Does your venue allow smoking?

We have a few guests who enjoy the occasional cigar and FH & I do as well. I've contacted the spouses of those that I know enjoy cigars to see what their favorite cigar is so that I can make sure I have a variety that they would enjoy.

You also have to make sure that you would have a way to keep the humidity correct for the cigars and that they're safe and taken care of. You'll also have to factor in matches and cigar scissors as well.

It's definitely a tricky type of bar to be able to pull off, but if you can pull it off correctly, they're awesome.

Maybe do so for favors, but I wouldn't actually allow for it at the wedding. It stinks lol.

We are doing a cigar bar. As long as you have an outdoor patio it will be fine.

Contact any cigar shop or club near you. You might be able to hire someone to come and man the bar and be able to give recommendations to your guests.

There is only smoking in designated areas outdoors in Ohio. Instead of rolling maybe buying a couple of boxes of quality cigars from a shop. I have a feeling hiring someone to roll would be really high price. I know the older men at my reception will be outside smoking one and drinking cognac.

Do any of your guests have allergies? Because a lot of people would have to leave if you did this.

Im doing this too! It's not a surprise though but there is apparently an online cigar outlet you can google. I know you'll need to pack away the cigars in a humidor or dry cooler with nothing else in it to keep them fresh. We're doing a whiskey and cigar bar. Here's my inspiration pic. As for the smoke, I'm allergic myself and hate the smell but this is one of our must haves when venue searching to honor our late fathers, so I'll deal with it. My dad loved cigars, his dad loved whiskey. A lot of my uncles smoke them too as well as some of the ladies.

One of my favorite add ons where I work is a bourbon bar to go along with the cigars. Make sure you have cutters, big ash trays and a small humidor for the cigars. My husband loves cigars. My daughters fiancé has thought about doing this also. I love the idea!!
