Civil Ceremony and vow ceremony

Rhiannon, on August 29, 2021 at 4:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
I’m legally getting legally married in September way ahead of our original date set for June due to personal and financial reasons. This will just be a civil ceremony at the courthouse just us. Then in June next year or the year after we are planning a intimate ceremony with family and close friends this will be where we share our vows and so more of the traditional things. Such as cake cutting and first look with the dress since I won’t have a dress at the one in September just a romper that I have picked out. Nothing fancy. Has anyone else done this and if so did it take away from the second ceremony? Or were both days so special.

A lot of people have done this especially in the past 2 years. Me, both my siblings and my best friends all have a paper wedding date and a “wedding” anniversary. It’s so common now its nbd.

You can make your paper wedding date as simple or as extravagant as you want, and the same goes for the second one. It’s your day, and you can have it be as elegant or as casual as you feel. The rule book has been burned at this point.

Thank you! My family is pretty traditional and at this point I just want to focus on what my fiancé and I want.

Hubby and I were legally married over a year ago, and had to postpone our wedding TWICE from June 2020 to December 2020 And now to December 2021. We honestly forgot about the wedding details
Because so much time has gone by. Now that things are closer I’m allowing myself to get a little more excited, but in no way does the fact that we have been legally married for so long take away from the excitement of my real wedding day.

My husband and I! Except our second wedding didn't happen yet, it is in October. We got married last year at a microwedding with 35 guests and our big wedding is this October.

I'm just as excited for this one because we get to celebrate with those who couldn't attend last year. I get to FINALLY wear my big dress, utilize our bridal party, do a father/daughter dance, bouquet toss etc. everyone is just as excited for it

We’re planning the exact same thing !! Our paper wedding will be in May 2022 & then we are planning An actual wedding (still a micro wedding though) with our family and just a few friends for May 2023. And we are going to do a minimoon after the paper ceremony and a honeymoon after the real ceremony! Congratulations to all the brides !!
