Cleaning engagement ring??

Chelbi, on July 31, 2016 at 11:23 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 30

Hey all! So I got engaged 6/16/16 and my ring was SOOO shiny <3. He had purchased from Helzberg, the closest one is an hour and a half from us so we barely go there for anything let alone a cleaning of the ring. I was curious if anyone cleans their own ring, and what they use etc. obviously I won't get it as spiffy as the store but just to spruce it up a bit. Opinions?

Is there a local jewelry store you could bring it to for a cleaning?

Beautiful ring. I use dish soap and warm water. I usually let it soak for a little then I gently brush it with a soft toothbrush.

My jeweler gave me a jar of jewelry cleaner - I think it's basically aqueous ammonia. I clean my ring every few days.

Blitz Gem & Jewelery Cleaner!! I got a small sample packet with my ring from Brilliant Earth, and it worked so well I got a large bottle on amazon for about $5.00, along with some Jewelery/Glass cloths. I took my ring to a jeweler to have it cleaned and he said the cleaner I use was doing so well it would be a waste of money! I clean it about once a month and have only the best to say about it!

Gorgeous ring. Mine is from Helzberg too. They told me to use dish soap and water with a soft bristle brush in between professional cleanings.

I second the diamond dazzle stick! I'm sure you can order some cleaner online.

I just take mine in to get cleaned. I probably should get it cleaned more than I do.

They actually sell a jewelery cleaner in Target that is in a red jar that comes with a dip tray and brush and I use it almost everyday and it works wonders!

I get the jewelry cleaner from target or Walmart. They have little wipe fabric type things that I use in between cleanings

I used a jar of this for years until I knocked it over recently and spilled it. It works really well. I'm sure there are a million other ways to get them sparkly clean at home, though. And many jewelry stores will clean them for free even if you didn't buy them there.

Toothpaste also works to well to clean and polish. You could use a toothbrush if it's soft enough, but I usually use a cotton ball to scrub. Then just wash it off.

I cleaned mine just yesterday because I attended a wedding last night, and knew I'd be showing my ring to family members. I have a jewelry cleaner that came with the ring.

I've heard that vodka helps shine up a diamond ring. I've never tried it. I don't clean my ring myself because it's a pearl so I don't have much experience. My aunt scrubs hers every morning with a soft toothbrush and some mild soap

I use the diamond dazzle stik - you can get it on amazon for $7! It's very safe for every type of diamond and really makes it shine!
