Clear masks

Etsy has a nice variety of lip reading face masks. You should take a look and see if any of the styles would work.

There are clear masks on the market (same shape and design as regular masks with a clear window) and plastic devices available that hold the mask away from the mouth. However, the irony is that people say the clear masks are marketed for the deaf/hard of hearing people to wear which defeats the purpose because people with good hearing don’t utilize lip reading, if they know how in the first place, so a deaf person wearing a clear mask serves no purpose. While your intentions are good to have clear masks so you can lip read what hearing guests are saying, it’s likely that they won’t wear them of their own volition nor will they purchase their own because it is a one time use for them.

I have a deaf cousin so I definitely understand where you are coming from! I think it’s great to be proactive especially since it would help to understand and communicate with your guests.
