Clearing up Danduff for the Big Day

Future Mrs.Calderon <3, on November 28, 2016 at 11:42 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 18

Hey all!

So I have been struggling with Dandruff recently and thought I would share what I have been using to clear it up. No one wants flakes on their big day. A patient of mine told me about Sulfur8. now normally I would just walk up to my Doctor and ask for a prescription grade treatment but I said "why not" this time and took my patients advice. Can I say amazing!!! It cost me about 5 dollars at Sally's Beauty Supply. I am using it once a week on my scalp and it has cleared it up so well. Just FYI I am using the pomade and it does leave my hair very oily. It does have a smell to it but not too bad.

Anyone have any other suggestions to maintain???

I have been using this one after trying aveeno, which did NOT work at all.

It does not smell the greatest, but after conditioning with my redken conditioner, you can't tell. Honestly I appreciate this shampoo so much, after dying my hair back to my natural color (brunette) I had this problem, and using this shampoo it has gone away.

I use Fair Trade Honey shampoo from Lush which helped me a lot, I do still use T/Gel 1x per week since it helps clear up any junk in my hair and maintain my color. I also use a conditioner with coconut oil in it which keeps my scalp soft.

I use coconut oil and tea tree oil. ETA I prepoo all night with a mixture of coconut oil, tea tree oil, olive oil and castor oil (for hair growth) about once a week. I also add a little mint in my conditioner. Keeps my hair soft, shiny, dandruff free and it smells great.

I use selsun blue every once in a blue moon (haha pun intended) when I feel like my scalp is being flaky. Clears it up and I'm good for quite some time.

(Diluted with water) Vinegar rinse. Already have it in the house and it works like a charm!

Only downfall is that your hair smells like vinegar for a day.

I usually do this every couple months.

I wash my hair first and then do the vinegar rinse. And to cut back on the vinegar smell I wash it again and then apply conditioner.

How do you know if it's dandruff or dry scalp? Everything I've read says it's different and I don't know which one I have.

@ErinWood I agree I say I have dry scalp, because every time I would dye my hair my scalp would get irritated. Now that I dyed it back to natural color, I still get dry, I think it's because of the products that dry out my hair. But idk some people might say its "dandruff".

The only thing that works for me is anti-fungal shampoos like Nizoral. I have to use it a couple times a week to keep everything under control. I have curly hair, so I use sulfate free shampoo which has actually made the dandruff worse. It leaves more oil in the hair, and the yeast that cause dandruff LOVE oil.

I've had the best results with Rx ketoconazole shampoo- same ingredient as Nizoral, but stronger.

My hair dressed said to mix mouthwash and water 50/50 and put it in a spray bottle. And when you know you are going to wash your hair in the morning, to spray it on your scalp. Sleep, and then wash it out in the morning. He swears by it.

I haven't tried it yet though. Lol I keep forgetting. My dandruff isn't bad. But it is there... and he told me I couldn't use dandruff shampoo anymore cause I have so much breakage from it being too harsh on my hair.
