Clearing up Skin before wedding?

Emma, on February 12, 2019 at 7:59 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 19
Hi everyone! I currently working as a line cook, and in the past 6 months my face has way more acne than it has ever had. My skin is constantly oily no matter what I use. I have plenty of time to clear up my skin, I was just wondering what other women did before their weddings? Did you see a professional or just use over the counter stuff? Did anyone have a facial and did anything help them for sure?

A professional MUA once told me that jojoba oil is a life saver. I’ve also heard great things about tea tree oil.

Finding the right skin care routine is your first line of defense. Talk to a beauty advisor at a makeup store or department store to get started. Lancôme has a mild facial peel called vissionaire crescendo - it’s done at night over the course of four weeks. It did wonders for my skin with evening up done and reducing scarring.

Bioclarity!!!!!! Bioclarity saved my skin. I started breaking out all under my chin and neck last year right when I got engaged. It was weird for me because I rarely breakout. I found bioclarity from an instagram ad, I was skeptical, but decided to try it and OMG it works wonders. It is also all natural and very gentle on skin.

Also, eating a healthy diet of course. LOTS of fruits, veggies, and good ol' H2O w/ lemon, cucumber, lime. Try incorporating fresh juices daily. Cut out dairy, dairy is a huge culprit of acne, and for me personally, sugar makes me breakout - like white processed gross sugar, not to be confused with fruit sugars which are SO important to your skin and body. Good luck!

That you for all your advice! I've heard good things about tea tree oil, but the last time I used it the smell made me super sick. Maybe I'll try it again if I can stomach the smell. I'll also look up the vissionaire crescendo too, so thank you very much!

I do eat a lot of dairy, so that's definately something I'll start limiting from now on! I've also never heard of bioclarity, but I've ordered a free month trail from curology that I'm going to see if that helps me. If it doesn't, I'll look into bio clarity!

I've heard of curology but have never tried it. I hope it works out for you, but if not, definitely give bioclarity a try! I saw your comment about the tea tree oil, when you use it, make sure to mix it with a carrier oil such as Jojoba. Don't apply it directly to your skin or it could cause irritation. There are so many alternatives to dairy now, it's super easy. I cut out dairy when I was 15 because of acne and have never eaten it since, 15 years later!

Its gonna be hard because I love dairy products, but I would give up anything to look great at my wedding. And I didn't know to use a carrier oil, so thank you for that advice!

To remove oils from your face you need to double cleanse with an oil based cleanser first and then a water based cleanser. Because water and oil don’t mix if you just use a typical water based cleanser it won’t remove all the oil buildup from the day.

Thank you Colleen, but I've looked into this before and found it difficult to manage because of all the steps. I'm looking at like 3 steps max, because when I try to do too many I end up forgetting and getting frustrated and scraping the whole plan. But I appreciate your input 😊😀

I didn't know that! I have very oily skin, and never thought to use an oil based cleanser. I always thought it would make my skin more oily. But I think this could be something I can do!

Cleanse exfoliate and tone. I would take a while to see what works best for your skin.

Hi Emma, I have struggled with acne issues since the age of 12–that would be 27 years now. So I thought I would weigh in. 1) Every person’s skin is different. 2) Acne is not necessarily caused by the things you eat, touching your face, etc, although certainly those things can exacerbate it. 3) The best thing to do, if you have health insurance and can afford it, is see a dermatologist. A dermatologist will be able to assess YOUR skin and give you proper advice about how to care for it, which medications to try, etc.

People sometimes tell me how great my skin looks, and they are surprised to find out that I use medication every day to treat and thankfully prevent the acne I STILL get every day. I thank my dermatologist!!

I love skincare. I've found a bunch of products that have worked for me but I think it really helps to go to a really good spa and ask the esthetician what kind of products you should be using. That really helped me get a better idea of what MY skin needs, cause we're all differentSmiley smile
Then treat yourself to an awesome skincare shopping spree. Some stores that have a good selection are Target (well priced but really good products), Ulta (sales but not as many high end brands), and Sephora/Bluemercury (use for 1 or 2 splurge items like a brightening serum or a night treatment).
Also, my suggestion is make skincare into something fun. I almost make it like I'm doing a facial. I do a mask or a serum like 3 days out of the week and it feels LuXuRiOuS.

I just bought a product called Meltdown by Blume and holy moly it cleared my skin up in one day. It’s made with a lot of essential oils like tea tree, clove, eucalyptus. I have less than three weeks until my wedding so I’m going to use it every day until then!!

I'm currently using curology, and I'm a fan! The first month is free, so that will be good for you to try it out. You just pay $5 shipping. I just use the night cream. For my entire schedule, in the morning I use a foaming cleanser from neutrogena, neutrogena acne toner, and cerave ultralight lotion with SPF. At night, I use the foaming cleanser, aloe vera toner, and cerave night lotion, then the curology night cream. In the shower, I use st ives to exfoliate. I've been getting professional services once a month too, facials & microdermabrasion & peels.

I visited an esthetician, dermatologist, and ended up taking prescription meds due to cystic acne and really oily skin caused by hormonal imbalance. The facials were lovely but didnt help me, though i did learn that icing breakouts is great for reducing swelling and promoting healing. The professional help was needed in my personal case but I'm acne free now!
