"Clinking Glasses" Games!

Cali, on June 28, 2017 at 5:17 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

I'm looking for fun ideas to incorporate for when guests clink their glasses for the bride and groom to kiss! I don't want a free for all so to speak for the glass clinking - I'd like the guests to have to work for it a little bit Smiley smile Let me know what you're doing or have seen before!

Either no one clinked glasses or I never heard it. I was happy with that!

No one clinked at our wedding. Everyone was busy eating their meals.

I think we are doing dice. The DJ will make an announcement, no clinking glass. There will be a giant die by the dance floor and if you roll even, bride and groom kiss. If you roll odd, you have to kiss someone. My mom saw it at a wedding and most of the time it was kids rolling the dice and then they would give their mom/dad a kiss if they rolled odd.

No one clinked their glasses at my wedding, and I didn't even think about it until now actually. If that's something you'd like your guests to do, maybe have your DJ make an announcement about it?

Is this a regional thing? Every wedding I've been too the guests clink their glasses the WHOLE FREAKING time through dinner. At least, as far as I've noticed. I'm in the Midwest (IL).

ETA: I hate it. That's why we were going to do the dice thing instead. Not that I want either...

@kimbo yes same!! There is SO much clinking at every single wedding I go to and I don't want that at our wedding. Thanks for the dice idea - I love that!

I'm in Michigan and unfortunately the clinking has happened at every single wedding I've been too. It's awful.

I do think it's a regional thing as well and a tradition I'm taking no part in.

This happened once at my wedding. Once. If it happened again, we ignored it.

Once? Sure. After that, ignore it and people will get the hint.

    Hate the clinking.

Ignoring it usually only makes it more vehement.

May have to incorporate the die...at least it's quiet!

Went to a wedding that if people wanted the bride and groom to kiss the a few of the guests had to get up and sing a song verse with the word "kiss" in it. I loved the idea, people run out of songs eventually.

We're going to put the names of married guests into a hat (the ones we know would be comfortable with it) and ask them to "show the newlyweds how it's done" because FH is annoyed by the constant clinking.
