Clothespin alternatives…

Jennifer, on July 21, 2021 at 6:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

So, I’m planning to do an escort display on a room divider (trifold) that has chicken wire where you can hang things from. My dilemma is, what are some alternatives to clothespins? I’ve googled and googled but no success. The display will have the attendee names/table number written on a small wood slice and I have twine that I can use to hang the wood, but want something other than clothespins. The only other alternative that I can come up with is tying each one on to the display and I’m not sure how much I’m feeling tying 80ish slices. HELP!

    Christmas ornament hooks?
Also maybe take a walk around a hardware section of a store. I’m sure inspiration will hit.

I was thinking about hooks but worry about someone hurting themselves. That’s a good idea about the hardware store. I’m sure FH wouldn’t object to going, it’s his home away from home.

Oh those are pretty! I had the black and silver ones in my head and wasn’t sure about that but I love the gold.

Have you seen old fashioned clothespins that don’t have the spring joint? They’re pretty solid at hanging things up and you could spray paint them without interfering with their function.
Maybe a heart shaped paper clip? If you open it a little it could be more hook-like.
Other thought is a long stem faux flower... loop the twine (after its looped through the wood) up close to the flower head and stick the stem through the chicken wire. Either the stem will weigh it enough down so it stays in, or the back of the head can sit snuggly in the wire opening. Then you have a wall of flowers/wood. It could be pretty dramatic depending on the flowers.

The flower wall would be so pretty, I’m not a very skilled art/craft/diy person 😕. I like the vintage clothespin idea too!

Is there a reason you are trying to avoid clothespins? If you are already using twine and chicken wire I don't see how clothespins would make your setup look more rustic than you want.

Clothespins come in lots of colors (some with the metal painted, some not) and sizes and some even have decorative shapes. I've seen clear plastic ones flecked with rose gold, ones painted all sorts of colors, mini and in-between sizes, and heart shaped ones.

It wasn’t that it would be more rustic, I just wanted to do something different than clothespins.
