We're using (non-personalized) coasters along with a nametag as escort cards, and we're going to have a sign that says "please take your nametag and coaster to your seat". We're assigning seats by table though, so that makes more sense for us. I had the same worry that people would just think we're giving them a cardboard photo of us and not a coaster to be used during the reception haha

This is a good idea. I should do this for our shot glasses because I want guests to realize it's a favor as well and tells them where to sit. So on the sign that has the signature shot recipe on it, I should add something along the lines of taking it along with them!
