Cocktail Hour Appetizers

Natalie, on February 1, 2024 at 11:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

We are having a taco bar at our wedding and I am trying to figure out what appetizers we should have for cocktail hour. Do you have any ideas to help me out? lol

Do you want to stick to the Mexican theme for the appetizers? Who is providing them? Does the taco caterer offer any or do you have to reach out to other local restaurants that cater?

I am getting a family friend who is just starting out with catering to cater the food at the wedding so they don't have menus or anything and they are able to do whatever we are wanting within reason. I was thinking sticking with the Mexican theme for cocktail hour should probably be best...?

Rather than sticking to the Mexican food theme, you may want to diversify with your cocktail hour. That way if there are any guests that aren't fans of that particular type of cuisine, they will have other options during cocktail hour. Maybe go with easy favorites like finger sandwiches, meatballs, mac n cheese bites, mini corn dogs, etc. And charcuterie boards and fruit/cheese trays are always a hit.

Maybe tapas? Or chips and guac/salsa?

Mini taquitos, quesadillas, and ceviche shooters with a fruit and vegetable platter?

I really like Jm Sunshine's and Skylar's themed ideas. Chinese food flavors also work well with Mexican food, slight shared history. I'd look into shumai, dumplings, other small bites (not noodles). I would also have a vegetarian entree selection for non-meat eaters. Some vegan chefs use jackfruit for tacos and pulled "pork" sliders.

You can never go wrong with a fruit and veggie platter/display!
