Okay so my wedding and reception is in the same building, after the ceremony I planned on leaving to go take pictures with my wedding party at a park or something while my guests have cocktail hour and then return in time to do my grand entrance BUT.... I am not having a bar at my wedding because my Fiance' and I are Christan and we dont drink. So I need some ideas for some INEXPENSIVE entertainment for my guests until i get back

@Pumkins Sunshine, didnt mean to sound rude but i didnt appreciate everyone getting on my post and attacking me for something i didnt say (nor was i thinking or trying to imply) Im not that type of person and i dont care what other ppl choose to do but in my church drinking isnt permitted and i follow those rules.

I totally get that Theresa, and I was trying to be helpful by telling you why people think that's what you meant based on what you said.

So another idea- Scavenger hunt. Things like "Find someone the bride went to high school with". "Find someone the groom works with", etc.

Jessica- not sure why you think it's your job to tell people how to feel about other people, but it is counter-productive. No one is always mean or always nice.

You want to keep people entertained – lots of cool beverages, appetizers, good music and the wish tree are good ideas. Maybe you could make up personalized Mad Libs that the guests could fill out at the tables and have a box for them – I think it would be fun to read the responses. Smiley smile

In reading your whole post it rubbed me wrong as well the way you state we are christian we dont drink

Kind of a broad statement and I can understand the way it was received

You could have easily just stated that you dont drink and are having a dry wedding.

looks like you got some great advice though cocktail hours are boring either way I hate waiting around, Drinking helps i guess but still boring I like the idea of well wish cards and slide show

Theresa Slid show are good. Your right you dont have to explain your reason for no alcohol. You can still do different non Alcoholic drinks. Like a wedding punch or do a non alcoholic Daiquiri . Either way its your wedding.

I went to a wedding that had homemade coloring books to keep the kids entertained. I think if you do a slide show that would keep people entertained for awhile. Maybe set up some kind of interactive food station. I think of S'MORES which isn't necessarily right for an hors d'oeuvres time frame, but something like that. See if any of your guests have hidden talents, maybe somebody is in a band, maybe somebody is a stand up comedian. Otherwise hire somebody. I would like to think that you could find something affordable.
