Cocktail Hour in the program

EdubbsWife™, on July 1, 2011 at 1:50 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

Well, I am working on the wording of my wedding program today. I would like to have a nice little catchy something in there about the cocktail hour. I want to say a little more than. Join us in the State Room for cocktails. But what?

During Cocktail hour there will be hors d'oeuvres and drinks, jazz music and an activity. The activity/game is going to be the one that ask couples to sit back to back and my MC will ask questions about who does what in the household. The couple with the most correct/unanimous answers wins a prize... then back to the jazz music.

So question is, how to say something witty and informative about the cocktail hour in my very formal wedding program? HELP!

This was on our Rehearsal Dinner invitations. You could probably change it around for cocktail hour...just a thought. I am not creative. I took this poem from someone on here. Can't remember who to give credit.

    Zachary popped the question and

    Meghan said "Yes"

All the planning is over from the hall to the dress.

Only one thing remains for this day to be great,

"Practice makes perfect" July 31st is the date.  We'll practice the ceremony,

    and iron out the kinks,

then it's off to the Limestone Club for dinner and drinks

Awww That is really cute for the RD. But I need wording for the Cocktail hour between the ceremony and the reception. Everything is at the same location (but different banquet rooms) but I want to tell people in the program explicitly. Any thoughts?

I've had a client use something along the lines of: "Libations and ___ to begin the Post-Nuptial Celebrations will commence in the State Room at ___"

I liked it because of the fun Libations and ___ (i'm totally blanking on the word they used) sounded fun and catchy - but using the more formal terms and "commence" didn't look out-of-place on their formal program (black tie affair).

@LC, That's exactly what I am getting at! Now if we could just remember that word! LOL.

How about "libations and conversation" or "libations and introductions"
