Cocktail reception

Nichole, on July 18, 2020 at 3:23 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4

Hello! We were suppose to get married in April but that was postpone to Aug 28th secondary to COVID. My hall just informed me this week that we cannot do any inside receptions over 10 people now (we were told up until then that we would be able to have 100 people). Luckily my ceremony is outside in a garden setting where we can at least do a Cocktail hour (actually 2-3 hours). We cannot have anything more at the ceremony site as we have to be done by 7 pm as there is another event that evening already. So...we have shortened our guest list to immediate family and friends but I am wondering what to say on the invites....is Cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres appropriate to say? Does anyone have any other ideas? This is not my ideal reception plan but it's what I can do without rescheduling the whole thing (which I do not want to do again).

When people do a cake and punch reception they literally only write cake and punch reception to follow so I don’t think anything is wrong if you just write appetizers and drinks to follow

I think "light refreshments to follow" is perfect! "Join us for a short cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony" also works! 🥂
