coffee table guest book?

SpringBride15, on April 1, 2015 at 10:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

So, our "guest book" is actually a coffee table book. Glossy pages with pictures. FH is worried that any pen will smear, and we'll be left with a book full of smudged signatures! He specifically asked me to ask my WW ladies! lol. Has anyone used a coffee table book, and if so, what pens did y'all use? Thanks in advance, if anyone has an answer or suggestion Smiley smile

I think Sharpie makes smudge-proof pens and markers. I would try those. You can test it on a piece of glossy paper similar to your guestbook.

I am using a shutterfly photobook as our guestbook. I went to Michaels and bought acid-free archival pens. I wouldn't recommend sharpies because they fade over time. You wouldn't want to lose all the messages from guests because they faded away.

I bought archival pens from hobby lobby because they won't bleed/ruin the pages over time. I got a 2 for the same price as sharpies

You will need an acid free pen, that you can get at a good office supply store. Smiley smile

We are also using a Shutterfly Photobook as a guestbook...We were gonna use a sharpie, but now I think I'll get an acid free pen like others suggested!

The "industrial sharpies" or "lab markers" are mad eto not smudge, fade or discolor over time. They are used in lab settings, so how they hold up is really important. I would suggest buying a pack from Amazon, where they are very reasonably priced.

I never even thought of a photo book! I like that much better than a standard guest book. Time to go check out Shutterfly!

Sharpies (with the exception of the industrial ones) are crap for stuff like this. Get an archival marker or pen from a craft store or Amazon. Zig and Tim Holtz are good options; lots of color choices.

I think the only time the sharpie would smudge is if the person signed it and immediately closed the book a couple seconds after signing.
