Cohesive Bridesmaids

Brianne, on March 31, 2021 at 8:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I’ve known for a while that I’ve wanted my girls to wear black; that’s pretty much set in stone. They will be choosing their dresses (as long as it’s the same color, length, and possibly fabric). I’m worried because black is such a common color- I’m sure guests will be in black as well. I want them to look like bridesmaids throughout the night even when they’re not holding their bouquets. I’m trying to think of a way to make them stand out in what could be considered a bland color. Would jewelry in a complementary wedding color be enough? What else could I do?
Thanks so much in advance!

Statement jewelry would certainly help! Maybe shawls if they’re strapless and it gets late/chilly? What about statement shoes- like something flashy and bright if the dress hem is only ankle length. Maybe hair pieces, like a large flower or gemstone piece could be a good identifier too.
I don’t think too many (women) guests would wear black to a wedding.

A fur shawl! I've seen so many winter weddings where the bridal party will wear a pretty fur shawl over their dress and it is stunning! So cute and fun.

If you didn't like this idea, statement jewelry would be fun and pretty too!

Awesome! So my head is in the right place accessory wise. I was actually thinking of shawls/faux fur wraps since it’s a February night wedding. Thank you so much!

I think if dresses are long that will help a lot. Unless you're having a black tie wedding, i doubt many people would show up in a floor length black dress - women might wear a lot of black but probably more cocktail style dresses! They will also stand out because (I'm assuming) they will have professional hair and maybe makeup and have flowers and be standing at the altar with you. Once they are at the reception it doesn't really matter if they "stand out" or not!

I wouldn't do anything specifically to make them stand out, they will stand out because they're bridesmaids!

I don't see this as an issue. They will stand out by standing up front with you.

At black tie affairs, men wear black and white mostly ( or gray or midnight blue tux. ) But women mostly wear bright colors to contrast, not black gowns. At formal not black tie, you see more women in black, and little black dresses. But a group of 3 to 5 stand out at the ceremony, all you care. I agree with Lady that you may do something special, but it is unnecessary.

Maybe a nice head peace to go in their hair.

Shoes, Jewelry, corsages, hair styles and/or accessories, maybe a shawl. But there really is no reason they need to stand out.

I just came here to say that I've been to a wedding where the girls wore black dresses and they stood out all on their own! They had their hair and makeup done, so everyone knew they were bridesmaids. If you really want to make them stand out though, I would say doing some jewelry that all match could help with this.
