Colonic before the wedding?

Andrea, on February 1, 2013 at 12:46 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 12

I just saw a groupon for a hydrocolonic therapy and I thought I would give it a try to lose a couple extra inches before the wedding. Has anyone ever tried this and did you lose any weight? I know this is not permanent and it's a quick fix but I just thought it would be worth a try. Any experience with this?

I think originally sessions are like 120-150 but thus groupon only makes it 50. Hoping it helps a little.

I actually work for colon & rectal surgeons and we do not advise them at all.

NO NO NO! It is no different than pooping yourself for a day. Oh yeah except the hose and water up your hiney. Dangerous yes. I suggest you drink a lot of water or start juicing. it will help you not be bloated.

I did this once and it landed me in the hospital for 4 days....I will tell you what happened but don't read on if you are weak stomached....

I did NOT have enough bad bacteria in my system....so when I did this, it cleaned out my good bacteria also....leaving my intestines almost empty so when my next food came through (and yes, I followed the diet they gave me), I had nothing to continue to break it down. I started cramping and turning an off color - kind of jaundice looking - this was all within 10 hours of the treatment. One of my staff saw me stumble (I had lost my balance) and she took me to the hospital for a very expensive "stay-cation." I agree with MJ....try juicing and add a lot of water to your daily intake! It will balance your system, lower your bloating, and not require pumping of the stomach followed by an upper and lower GI....so fun (smh). My doctor told me if I ever did that again, I could actually permanently damaging my internal systems. NO THANK YOU!

Don't do it!!!!! You won't lose weight, you actually GAIN weight because your colon absorbs the water. Also, it's painful!!!!!! Not only was it uncomfortable during the procedure, but I felt sick days after. Ughhhhhhh

I know people who have had success with them -- but not really as weight loss. and the first few can be very hard on your system (my friend passed out)... i wouldnt recommend trying something that jarring before your wedding...

No thank you! Really not worth all the pain and frustration of going through it IMO

@Mrs. FergyBeMac, you're so cute - hiding in shame lol Nothing to be ashamed about; I'm sure we have all done one or more things to lose weight that we may be ashamed of later...but hey, it's funny to think about later unless you ended in the hospital like Suz, yikes.

Andrea, like these ladies here I wouldn't recommend it, especially so close to your wedding.

This sounds like a terrible idea. The risk is not worth the potential reward. If you ate clean, whole foods for two weeks before the wedding and completely omitted sugar, and drank a lot of water you'd see a difference.
