Color Question

Hello there :-) Wondering if you ladies can help me to stop obsessing. People keep asking me my colors and I’m not quite sure what to say. I know what shades I like, but I’m not sure if I need to have an identified palette. It’s been really hard for me to find pictures with my exact idea, because while my bridesmaids are wearing Quartz from David’s Bridal, which is sort of like a dusty rose/mauve color, I don’t necessarily want a mauve wedding. I want really colorful flowers that will pop with the dresses. Aside from napkins and a few pieces of decor, I don’t see where I’ll be going with a “theme”. I guess you could say I want a colorful modern garden wedding. I will use some gold accents for table numbers. My venue is simple, with wood beams and white walls with black and white photos of flowers on the wall. I know I’m overthinking this (that’s what I do), but it’s hard to explain my “colors” and people keep asking. Anyone else understand what I mean? Attached is a picture of the color of the bridesmaids dresses and an inspiration photo. The men will be in darkish blue suits. How would you describe the color of the bridesmaids dresses? They look very different depending on the lighting. Color Question 1

I'd say "rose" as the color. Some pictures, it looks dusty rose, some it looks like a softer pinkish rose, at least to me. So navy and rose is what I would say if asked.

That said, you could probably give a more abstract answer, like "we're going to use different floral shades."

Honestly, a lot of people ask that question (and other wedding planning questions) just for small talk/something to say. It's completely fine if you don't want to say or don't have a definitive answer. Just respond generally and change the subject to something about your wedding you are excited to talk about, or to another conversation topic altogether.

I just tell everyone mine is "lavender and sage" although it's really more like sage and 17 different hues of purple (because actual lavender comes in a variety of shades!). We're getting married in a botanical garden, so we virtually have no decor other than signage because Mother Nature has taken care of us in the decor department. I tell a lot of people that our theme is "floral" haha. We have succulents as favors/escort cards and we're doing a tree-planting ceremony.

You could say your ladies are wearing muted pastels to balance out the bright florals! I'd say it's more of a dusty rose color — which I love with the navy! I'm a huge fan of mauve, so your palette looks gorgeous to me.

Most people ask to make conversation, and perhaps with an ear out to decide what family of colors not to wear, so few will look like bridesmaid's color. Saying, flowers throughout like a garden party, with bridesmaids and accessories in dusty rose or mauve ... means a lot fewer guests will wear dusty rose or mauve, and florals will be tiny or abstract, mostly, not life size florals splashed across dresses.

I find that most people want to know what your primary colors are (often so that they don’t match the wedding party if they are a guest or, if they are family, they can at least compliment the wedding party). The palette usually reflected in the wedding party attire (but could also be venue, flowers, or anything else that is going to stand out). Obviously, you have to be a little more specific with your relevant vendors as to the complimentary colors and shade ranges.
For instance, if anyone asks me: my colors are Dusty blue & burgundy. That’s because I had to work with a venue with red walls. So I chose a color for the bridesmaids that would compliment the red wall, but there will be only enough blue and burgundy in my flowers and other decor to tie everything together. The flowers will be various nude and blush shades (in order to brighten the venue) & the bridesmaids dress are actually different shades of blue.
