Color Scheme / Attire

Lisa, on December 9, 2020 at 11:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 9
I posted earlier about possibly changing my color scheme. Based off the comments I received my ideas weren’t the greatest so I’m trying to stick with what we originally came up with.

Guest TablesOverlays: ivory Napkins: Tiffany Blue Center pieces: Votive candle arrangements with Tiffany Blue stones at the bottom & ivory rose petals around them Chairs: Gold

Head Table Overlays: Ivory lace damask Napkins: Tiffany BlueChairs: Gold

Attire Groom & Best-man: Light grey suits with matching vests, white button down with Tiffany Blue ties Matron of Honor: Hazelnut (Azazie), bouquet ribbon will be Tiffany Blue
Other various decor items will be Tiffany Blue like our cake topper, table numbers, getting ready cups, stones in all votive candles, etc. Many of these items have already been purchased.
I’m torn on what to do with my MOH dress color. The hazelnut color just seems thrown in there. Idk what other color would work. A different shade of grey than the guys’ suits? I don’t want her in a Tiffany Blue dress.
The only thing my fiancé requested was what he was wearing and prime rib, so I want to make work. But I don’t want it to look tacky.
Without changing the Tiffany Blue tie, what dress color would work? Or just leave it as is? I guess I’m looking for some reassurance I’m not all over the place. I don’t have many people bounce ideas off of. With postponing the wedding, it really gave me too much time to think.

I know I commented on your previous post, but I'm wondering how committed you are to the gold chairs. I personally think grey and gold kind of clash. I also don't know how how you plan on tying in the gold with the rest of your wedding. What about a sequin silver dress for your maid of honor?

The gold chairs are included in our pricing & silver would be $10 a chair (so $1000). We can’t really afford that now because FH has been laid off since March due to Covid and no end in sight. Silver would probably be one of the things we’d add if we could. Silver sequin dress isn’t a bad idea! Now to find one!

That seems crazy that the silver is more expensive than the gold. I totally understand being tight on a budget. I lost my job back in May and I'm currently pregnant. I know David's Bridal has some sequin silver dresses if you like any of them.

I would either put her in a gold, grey or ivory dress. I looked up the hazelnut color and you don't have that color anywhere else in your color scheme.

Gold is considered a neutral. And except for tiny touches here and there, major furnishings , including tablecloth color because there is so much of it, need to be compatible with each other. Not match any clothing, just not offend the eye ( think pink neon tablecloths and purple with orange spots on chaircovers. Yuk) Dark teal colored jade and turquoise gemstones are usually set in gold. Teal and gold are quite complementary, blues and gold or greens and gold are excellent, and blue -greens, and grays with a touch of blue, pearl grey ( light) or slate are very nice with gold. No reason to change out the chairs, as they go with every color you have brought up.
Men's ties and pocket squares have never needed to match, that is a wedding industry cute touch. Go to a really classy party, theatre, fancy ball, and you will never, ever see ties and hankies matched to the ladies garments. It is bad fashion. So don't feel you need to do it because others do. .... I think MOH in silver metallic or in sequins would outshine the bride, and that ain't allowed here. .. Robin's egg blue, Tiffany's trademark color, is a light blue with a touch of green in it. Why not look at a darker blue green for the maid of honor. Darker

blue greens look excellent with Tiffany blue. And if you use teal on the table as in your first post, they will look good in the same room, no clash, but not silly like when dresses match the furnishings. And touches of jewel or stained glass colors, or peacock blue or aquamarine will be fine in small accessories, and flowers, vases not glass. A darker blue green, in metallic or sequins, or a velour or velvet, would not outshine the bride, if she wants a little bling.Color Scheme / Attire 5

I do like hazelnut with grey, too, and with Tiffany Blue, and Teal.

I think a grey bridesmaid dress would look best and tie in with everything else. Dolphin Grey (Azazie) is pretty and might look tie in with your other colors.

Thank you for this!! I really like the darker colors. My sister (MOH) likes peacock from Azazie so I think that’s what we’ll go with. Not to decide if the table cloths stay ivory or change to a deep teal. Guess we’ll see when I have our Details meeting.

You can also do a mix. Dark teal or similar long table cloth, and on half of tables use a square lace ivory topper big enough for only points about 9 inches hang past the table top, leaving the top teal peeking through spaces in the ivory lace, and the sides of tables just enough points of ivory to call attention to the rest, the contrasting dark teal. Adjusting the level of light or dark by how many of the tables have the lace topper, how many are simply teal. and lace, like velour, or a metallic, adds depth, visual textures and plays of light ( metallic or satin shine). Festive, without using bunches of colors. Or if your venue includes white tablecloths free of extra charges, and dishes,
reverse it. And one thing about dark blue-greens, they are foliage colors, look great with all flower colors, and bold enough so simple class does not need color marbles in bottoms of vases or candles. Not the right dark teal, but the effect, with a cheap satin topper:

In quilting I love a peacock pallette, though classic for some other things. Fabric inspiration panels from e.quilter.com fabrics
