Color Scheme for a Mid-august wedding?

Nicole, on November 2, 2018 at 5:16 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

I need help deciding on a color for my bridesmaid dresses that fit with all the other details of my wedding. We are having our wedding in a "modernized" barn, and it will be mid-August. My fiancé is adamant on navy suits for himself and his groomsmen. I have decided on the rustic chic wedding collection flowers from Sams Club (as they are just the most cost efficient and pretty of all the ones I have seen). Additionally, I decided that we will have long greenery runners on all the farm tables at the wedding, and a bunch of votive candles. All around the theme is a garden-rustic vibe. I already purchased a bunch of chalkboards and wooden signs.

So knowing all of that, what colors should I choose for my bridesmaid dresses? Also, any idea what I should do for napkin colors on the non-farm tables (which will have basic white linens)?

Thank you all in advance.

Sincerely, an over-stressed, over-thinking bride-to-be.

Truly any color would work. What is your favorite color? Do you prefer muted or saturated colors? I'd start there. You really can't make a wrong decision

Burgandy or merlot would probably look pretty nice.

It really depends on your personal tastes and the overall effect you’re going for I think if you want something bright and cheery the peach would be a good choice but if you’re going for more of a moody fall then burgundy or orange would be fun also the time of day of your wedding so during the day lighter colors might be nice and at night the darker colors might be nice but it’s ultimately up to you navy goes with almost everything But the orange family is what is directly across from it so it’s what’s going to give you the most pop if you choose the color From yellow to red. Yellow is nice too, however it might seem more summer then fall, which isn’t bad since August is the end of summer. Hopefully that helped!

We did dusk from Azazie and it was perfect for our 8.11.2018 wedding! I’m so so so glad I picked that one.

Your wedding sounds kinda similar to ours, but I wouldn’t have necessarily called ours rustic. Our feel was more garden/whimsy.

I had succulents in my bouquet, which was my favorite thing 😍

Sorry for the picture overload, I just loved our decor and our pictures!

I have a similar venue and theme but my wedding is in May. I am doing blush, pale pinks & rose gold. What about neutral colors like creams and champagne? I think that would look great with navy and lots of greenery!

Thanks guys! I have narrowed it down a little: burgundy, grey, or a champagne/taupe-like color. I love love love burgundy... but I feel like it is more of a fall/winter color.

I am doing a June Romantic rustic wedding in a barn type setting. My other half also wants to wear blue but it will be more of a medium blue. The venue I am using make seasonal centerpieces that I can use or I can bring my own. Their summer colors are gonna be blush/rose gold/burgundy so I am gonna play off those colors and add little hints of dusty blue in for my other half!

Look at Azazie's mulberry, it's pinker than a typical burgundy

I think lemony yellow , gold, and bluish green sage, or various reds and wine colors from cinnamon to cranberry ( a little pink) to deeper red wine colors like burgundy, marsala, port wine, are all excellent with navy. And strong enough to standout against the mostly browns and taupes/ greys of the surrounding barn. The flowers are light and airy, and linens white, so any of the bold colors above chosen for a dress would be great for small accents, napkins, tinted vases and such. Really, anything goes in a barn, for colors. But barns are usually cavernous, and lighting subdued , hence my preference for strong colors complementary to navy and brown.

Huge numbers of summer flowers and flowering trees are in the dark pinks, cranberry, burgundy, marsala colors. And what is more summer than fresh dark cherries, and red plums, and grapes on the vine. Very much August colors! If you love burgundy, it goes with navy, and both colors are outstanding in barn background colors. So choose that color! It also is one of the easiest colors to find in accessories and decorations, because it is a summer, fall, and winter standard color. Go with what you love.
