Color suggestions for a July wedding?

Allison, on May 3, 2018 at 11:27 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23

Hi Everyone!

My wedding is next July (2019) and I am in love with a deep burgundy and navy blue color scheme. I am just worried that those colors are too fall/winter for my summer wedding (but I still don't want to part with it). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can keep those colors but add a little more summer-y-ness to them? Thanks so much I can't wait to hear from you guys!

Best,

Allison Smiley heart

I was using those colors until just recently! I'm also having a summer wedding and I paired them with a beige (that I never pinned down a good name for but MagnetStreet called it champage) and a metallic silver to lighten it up. It seems so elegant and put together.

I think that this would be ok, even in the summer. Navy suits and shorter length bridesmaid dresses sounds nice together! Maybe if you do that, keep the suits a lighter weight material so the GM and FH are comfortable. And for flowers and decor, I’d add a lighter/neutral color also to lighten things up. Like white or ivory or blush. My colors in the fall are navy, burgundy, blush and gold. Our BM dresses are blush and we are only doing pops of burgundy in our flowers, the rest will be cream and blush with greenery.

I love that!! Thank you so much! Also just glad to hear that someone else had the same idea. I was beginning to think I should change my mind because of everyone thinking it was too fall-y. I've also seen something similar with these colors and a lighter blush pink. So I definitely think this is the way I will continue to go. Thanks again!

I’m using burgundy, mauve, ivory and gold accents for my May wedding. You can use whichever colors you like

I think this will be beautiful for summer. Like others have said, I'd lighten it up with some of the accents. You could incorporate sunflowers, if that's your thing, to make it look more summer-y and they'd look great with those colors.

I'm having a March wedding and my colors are navy with pops of blush, rose gold and turquoise. If I was having a summer wedding, I would still do navy, but keep it light with either yellow (accent with sunflowers) or blush and light pinks. White and beige/neutral tones are great as well!

I've seen red/white/blue be totally Summer colors! So I think burgundy and navy blue would work. Maybe you could add a lot of white, or pops of yellow with sunflowers to make it seem for summery?

Those would make a beautiful color combination! Are you open to brighter versions of that color scheme? Maybe a cherry color and an ocean wave blue. Same family, but not so dark?

Thank you! I am a little set on the dark tones but I think you have a great idea and maybe I could incorporate some of those lighter tones into the flowers or decorations or accessories!

Those were my colors for my May wedding but all my family kept saying there not spring colors so I changed it to navy, coral and gold accents. But I honestly wish I would have kept my original colors bc they were so classy looking. I think those colors are good for July.

I wanted to do royal blue for my October wedding but was told it's too "summery"... maybe you can use it?

I think the dark is great, but I would consider grey suits since it'll be hot (I assume, depending on where you are)

Besides, it's like that red white and blue thing. Perfect for July!

I see all these people whose families were talking about the wrong season for their colors and I'm her with mint and coral in October and no one said anything to me. Lol

You can do whatever colors of your choosing! Smiley smile If it doesn't feel "summery" enough...I think adding a bright yellow could brighten it up a bit. That is, if you like that color combo

Colors don't have the match the seasons. Adding in some blushes and pale pinks would look beautiful.
