Colored napkins and table runners?

Heather A, on March 20, 2014 at 10:25 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

Did anyone have colored napkins and table runners at your wedding? I can't figure out if I want one of the other. The only problem is my colors are both hard colors. I'm doing a nautical thing with navy and red. I was debating a red table runner with navy napkins. But the issue is my vases are navy too. Do I just do the napkins?

I have to rent them from the venue and need to decide by nex week so I am having a heart attack.

Heather. What about white table cloths with red table runners and navy napkins? or navy table runners and red napkins? I love a nautical theme!

We arent doing a table runner but our colors are plum and burnt orange. We will be having plum table cloths with orange napkins Smiley smile i thought at first it would look to much but i actually really liked them together! I also hate white...

If vases are navy, do red runners and navy napkins. That's the only way I see it in my head lol

Karen, thats exactly what I am thinking. Do you think itll look too much?

I saw this today on my venues website and I love it. I want the runners to be red and the napkins to be the navy.....they picture has double table runners which i LOVE.

I dont mind white (ironically I am getting married on Labor day and my colors are navy, red and white accents. Oops). My venue automatically comes with white napkins and white table cloths, im just so nervous it will look like a lot going on.

I also think I have convinced myself to upgrade to chivari chairs.

I totally blew my budget on my chivari chairs, but the chairs at the venue were awful, so I had to go there. No regrets. I'm having gold pintuck tablecloths with orange napkins, so it's also over the top. I'm using pumpkins as vases. I want to make the whole room feel warm and autumn. I think you'll be fine with three colors on the table, but I agree, since the vases are navy, you should use the red runners and navy napkins. Awesome!!

Where did you get your vases?!

I have been looking everywhere for vases in that colour for my own wedding.

Karen, my venue has like ugly brown chairs. I was going to upgrade to chair covers, but chair covers are like $350...but the more I think about it they just arnt "me"...so I think id rather pay $700 to get chavari chairs. My coworker told me not to bother because no one sits in them long and they won't notice my colored napkins and stuff, but I will notice and that's what matters to me.

Tiffany vases, thanks! I will look into that.

As for your napkins, if you are ok with strong bright colour then go with the red runners and navy napkins. If you want less colour then skip the runner.

HAHAHA! Heather. My venue had horrific blue chairs that I hated too. The chair covers were just bulky. I'm also spending $700 for chivari chairs.

Heather I think the white table cloth with the red runner and navy napkins will look fantastic! The red runner will make the navy vase pop off the table. I say go for it!

I love you guys, youre always so helpful. FInal question of the evening...can I put a couple of these votives around the vase? Im thinking 3 per table. They tie into the theme nicely. or should I just stick to plain votives with no rope?

I think the rope adds a nice, extra nautical touch, do it!

Heather, I like the rope covered votives. They should look nice with the red runners and blue vases and napkins. We have a nautical thing going on too, but our colors are navy, yellow, and white. We are using white tablecloths, navy and white striped runners, and navy napkins. We are pulling in the yellow by scattering Yellow Sea glass around our lighthouse lantern centerpieces. We also made white and navy "life preservers" to use as napkin rings.

I'm having dark purple table runners and light purple napkins. Since one of your colors is bright (red) and one of your colors is dark (blue), I think you could definitely do both (I actually think that would look really nice). Since your vases are the dark color, I think the red table runners will just add a nice little "pop" of color!

Maybe do a red runner then so your centerpieces pop?

Red runner navy napkins. The red runner will help your vases pop out.

Don't over do it with your colors. *without reading all of the previous comments* Why not do your typical white/ivory table cloths, then do your red napkin, navy blue runner, and then can you change the color of your centerpiece vases still at this point? You could always do what we're doing and add something other than water to the bottom of our vases. We're adding pearls instead. That still fits in with your nautical theme and you are adding a little bit of sparkle/bling. Just an idea.
