Depends on what they want. If they both choose outfits in the same colour coincidentally then sure. But they don't need to match or be part of your colour scheme

Tradition is that bride's mother picks something, tells the groom's mother, who then picks something of similar formality. But even that tradition is rapidly disappearing (and is a REALLY bad idea if more than two mothers are involved). These days, the mothers typically just choose independently. And they certainly don't need to wear the same color.

They can wear whatever they want..... on a side ramble, I do regret showing my FMIL my mom's dress though. She bought the same dress as my mom (different color) and it kind of annoys me. There's a million other dresses to pick from and you pick my moms?! I'm shutting my mouth though- not worth getting too upset over & starting a fight.

These are the women that carried (most likely) and raised the couple. This is a very special, very unique, very anticipated day in their lives. They wear whatever makes them feel like the queens they are. When it comes to moms, the color swatches do not apply.

They wear whatever color they want. FMIL wants to wear the same color as my bridal party and I'm fine with that

Whatever they want. My FMIL asked me and I said I would prefer no white or black. She picked a dress with a white silvery top and navy bottom. I'm fine with it.

Whatever they are comfortable in.. my FMIL asked my opinions of different things for her dress, I give it but remind her it's totally what she feels good in!
