Confession time - did you buy yourself anything off your own registry?

Jo, on May 15, 2018 at 8:05 AM Posted in Registry 0 18

Sometimes things on your registry are just so exciting you can't wait for after your wedding to use them. Did you buy yourself anything off your own registry before your guests could get it for you?

Haven't set up my registry yet, but I'm not going to buy anything before my guests.

We're pretty much done receiving gifts from guests, so now we want to buy a few items that no one purchased (we were hoping someone would buy them for us lol)

But thankfully, we get a discount from the places we registered at, so we can use it towards the purchase.

FH had to tell me early on to stop buying off the registry. It's because some items went on major sale and if I can get it up to 40-60% off, I will and take it off the registry and add something else we need.

Yep! We had 2 of the same plate set. One was gifted during my bridal shower and then the other went back and forth of being out of stock. So I bought it to complete our set lol.

I purchased one thing that I got a great deal on but the registry hasn't been available to guests yet. It was an avocado tool since the FH loves them and they're going to be in season before any wedding things. But we are keeping our registry small so I don't feel bad because it was down sized again lol.

I really want to buy a steamer, even though it is on my registry. Torn.

No. That's the whole point of a registry. Have some self control.

Nope. We have no where to put the stuff we already got from the shower. We are currently living with my mom for two more weeks.

I did buy some champagne flutes from my registry because my mother in law gave me cash for Christmas and I wanted them... I had originally not planned on using the registries for anything other than a wish list to get the fulfillment discounts but people.asked and I did have a shower so I stopped buying from them.

We aren't getting any sort of showers or parties so our registry is pretty useless so yes I'll be buying things from it lol. I mostly made it as a hey FH this is the stuff you can get me for birthday's/christmas/anniversaries lol. We are having a DW so the chance of someone buying something from it is pretty small. I'd be shocked actually to get anything since they are spending money to get to the wedding and hotels and such.

My nice towels were on sale at Macy's from 60 dollars for 3.99... I couldn't pass it up. It turns out it was a computer glitch so when I went to the store they still honored it. I think proceeded to scoop up about 20 of them hahaha

I bought my duvet cover & shams from our Pottery Barn registry. They were one of the top things on my list, and then they went on suuuuper clearance, which PB only does if they're discontinuing something. My shower wasn't for another couple months still, so I knew they'd likely be sold out before anyone had a chance to look at our registry. I reeeeally didn't want to lose out on them, so I just bought them myself.

I also bought a few things that hadn't been picked up from BB&B and Crate & Barrel after the wedding with our registry completion discount. A couple people gave gift cards so I had to spend them, right??

Not yet, lol but I plan on taking advantage of things being sold at a discount after the wedding, depending on what we get.

I am very guilty of checking to see what's been purchased already...Smiley laugh

Nope but I haven't opened our registry up to guests yet. I don't plan on it, until after the shower.

Huh? How will people know what to get you for your shower if you don't have your registry info available to them until afterwards? A shower is for registry gifts...

I’ve had to stop myself a few times- yes but only from our target registry because things go “discontinued” almost weekly there it seems like. But with my shower this weekend I’m getting a list going with what will be the top things to purchase soon Smiley smile

Not yet! My registry is fairly small so I want to leave all the items for people to buy for my shower!

My job gave me a large amazon gift card cause they knew we were registered at amazon. so we took the amazon gift card and bought ourselves the most expensive thing off our registry since we knew no one was going to buy it for us lol (we were going to use the 20% completion discount afterwards to buy it for ourselves anyways). so technically, yes, i bought something off the registry BUT it was a gift card from my co workers :-)
