Confetti by the pound???

SummerS, on July 1, 2015 at 5:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I think we've decided to have metallic confetti thrown during our exit so I've started to look around online for supplies. I'm seeing that alot of places price and sell their confetti by the pound...how on earth do I figure out how many pounds I need?? Has anyone else purchased confetti this way? We're expecting 150 guests...and I'm sure not all will still be around for the exit, but I'll go ahead and estimate based on that number for now. How much should I get to make sure there's at least enough for a handful for each guest? I intend to pre-package the "handfulls" in little bags.

A pound is a lot. I would imagine 1 pound to be good for 20-30 people, if not more.

Will your venue let you do it? That'll be a hell of a lot of clean-up.

I wouldn't give it to all of your guests (that would be a huge mess!)...just the people sitting closest to the aisle... 1 lb would probably be enough..that is a lot of confetti.

ETA: OH and hello month twin!!

check with your venue.. we can't have confetti at our venue

I wouldn't suggest confetti. It will likely stick to people's hands and outfits, and it is a huge pain to clean up. Is the venue responsible for cleanup? Are you? Or do you have a hired clean up crew?

Pinguino, I'm not responsible for it, the venue has ok'd it, etc.

I'm just wondering how to judge how much to buy.

Also, not talking about tiny little confetti...more like a larger confetti, likely metallic. This is a pic from our venue of another couple that used what I'm going for (just not the same colors)....

It does look nice in that picture, and if you are not responsible for cleanup, and got the okay from the venue, then you are good to go ahead if that is what you want. As far as buying it, you could probably find it pre-packaged somewhere, maybe like Party City or a craft store, but that would probably be expensive. So then what I would do would be to buy a small bag and do a trial of the individual packaging you want. Weigh the packaging empty, then weigh it when full as you would like it. Then take that number times # of guests, and you know how much you will need by weight to order by the pound. But I don't suspect you will need more than 1 or 2 pounds.

Maybe get metallic paper from the craft store and a special punch in a design or your intials and have a confetti day with your brides maids?

I just want to add: Also look into biodegradable confetti. I've looked into them for my engagement photos and they're same price as buying paper ones and much better. =)

Wow! That's definitely a lot of confetti! Our venue won't allow it! I'd say just give 20-30 of your guests a handful, of your venue allows you to have it. That way it's still pretty, but not so hard to clean up...LOL!!

Not a fan of confetti. It's the work of wedding demons!
