Confused on how to calculate costs

Amanda, on May 29, 2019 at 12:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Question ladies! I'm trying to figure out how much our wedding will cost in total (It's in 22 days♡). I honestly just want to know because im curious. The reason I'm having a hard time is because my fiancee and I are taking our FOUR children to Florida (We live in Ohio) for a week (that's where we are getting married). So I know that I should include the price of the rental house in my wedding numbers...but should I count the money we spent on food, activities with the kids, etc? Whats your opinions? TIA!

I wouldn’t. Your wedding and your family vacation are two separate events.

Honestly, that’s really up to do. I agree with Caytlyn that I wouldn’t, just like I’m not including honeymoon costs or the costs of our rings.

I wouldn't. There's even wedding costs that I don't consider much of a wedding cost if I am using or wearing it again. Like FH & I are buying new pairs of boots for the wedding, but obviously we'll wear them again plenty. But your vacation I would say is separate. I myself don't even consider a honeymoon a wedding cost. That's separate in my mind.

For me I took out costs for stuff that is used beyond the wedding. For instance his suit is actually just a general suit he needed that he is using for our wedding but it will be used beyond it too. There are even small things I bought such as thank you stamps and inkpads I did not count because I can and will use it beyond the wedding. Some may not agree with me but I did not count our rings either because at the end of the day it is still a piece of jewelry for us in perpetuity. I actually did not count my honeymoon either because we honestly would have taken the trip regardless ahah. I can see why you added those costs in because you probably think of it as lodging and travel for the wedding but I would take it out of the calculations.

I think it depends on what are using the calculation for. If its simply to assess "did we have a $5k wedding or a $15k wedding" you can remove family vacation stuff. If it's a matter of "how much money have we spent in x amount of months outside of living necessities," I would include those additional costs.
