Do you recommend having a contract for all vendors? Specifically, a photographer?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. I give advice to paying customers daily as to why contracts are important (and solve disputes arising under them) so personally I am shocked that it’s even a question on whether one is needed, particularly given there are hundreds of posts on WW of brides expressing how they have been wrongly done over by vendors, or having to make adjustments due to COVID and are unsure of their rights (and every response to those posts being ‘check what your contract says!’).

I’m not sure what you said was so offensive either let alone to such a degree other posters are raising concern with it but alas I think you’re spot on that this is a validation post. We’re clearly horrible people 😂

No ma'am, never said you were horrible. And I have never had repeated situations.
No validation at all. Communication can get disorted via a screen. Take care.

Now that I'm rereading the thread, I want to clarify tgat I wrote "Ms. Lawyer" simplt because I was too lazy to write "mrswinter is coming." Disorted communication my apologies. Again, never had repeated instances with you, but I have had repeated instances with one poster on this platform. Best wishes.

I can't think of a single reason NOT to have a contract with vendors providing services. We have seen so many horror stories on here of people using friendors. When something goes wrong, it comes out that there was no contract, leaving the customer completely unprotected. Sure, things can go wrong with contracts in place, but at least there is legal recourse with a contract.

There are people on this thread who I think have been aggressive/mean in other threads, but I don't see any inappropriate behavior in this one.

In your situation, I think people just get surprised/incredulous when people ask if it's okay to not have a contract because it's such a basic thing. Even before covid, I made sure to have a contract for everything. You need to have in writing what everyone's expectations are around service, pricing, etc. It doesn't cost anything extra...why wouldn't you?

Absolutely! especially for brides now who have to deal with possible cancellations or change of plans, it would make sense to
