Being from Pittsburgh, I must have a cookie table at my wedding. It's "traaaaaadition"

Anyway, what kind of cookies do you like?

On my list I have

sugar cookies (eiffel tower, of course)

kiss cookies (with the hershey kiss)

Russian Tea Cakes

Chocolate Chip (those are mainly for me)

Pizelles (or however you spell them)

Buckeyes

Lady Locks

AND

mini cupcakes in a variety of flavors

chocolate covered strawberries (decorated to look like baseballs - that's for FH)

chocolate dipped and decorated pretzel rods (my cousin is making these for free)

Also, how many cookies should I plan on per person for the night. Most websites say 3 or 4. How many cookies would you eat a wedding reception? 3 or 4 per person doesn't seem like many to me, but maybe it is.

We're having a cocktail hour with apps (cookies wouldn't "have" to be out for this, I guess)

Dinner Buffet

Wedding Cake

And, if you've never heard of this fabulous tradition - an image

I think three per person is good unless you have baggies or something sitting out--if you did and there's an interesting wide variety, I'd probably want to snag some to go!

My favorite cookies are peanut butter (no nuts though) and snicker doodles.

As a fellow yinzer bride, I am definitely having a cookie table! In fact, we are meeting with our cake lady tomorrow who is also doing most of our cookies, so I am excited to pick the different kinds. And I bet my Mom and sisters will bake some too.

At first I was thinking 3-4 per person like you but when I asked my Mom how many they had for my sister's wedding, I was appalled at how many it was! Something crazy like a dozen/person or something lol! But I guess they put out take-out containers so people could take them home. I think either approach is fine.

I can't wait for tomorrow! Are you having any of your cookies coordinate with your colors? I am hoping to, if possible!

I've read for cookie tables that it's a dozen per person! My mom is concerned because she wants me to have the tradition of the table, but no one lives in Pittsburgh anymore to bake them.

If you or a family member has freezer space, you could bake them leading up to the wedding. Or, find out if your bakery/cake person will do them - may even offer a discount if you order both. Also, close family friends may offer or be willing to each bring a different type to share the work!

I'm definitely doing a cookie bar as well. For christmas, I asked my FMIL for cookies (because I love her snowflake sugar cookies,) I guess you could call me a cookie-a-holic.

So far, I plan on having:

    Sugar cookies (hearts)

    Shortbread (in small drop sizes)

    Lemon square

    Pizelles

    Oatmeal chocolate chip

Some sort of Linzer cookies (to go with my german heritage)

A couple more that FMIL wants to do (but I can't remember the names)

I think 3-4 per person is reasonable. I may go 5-6 per person just to be safe, plus if you are having a gift opening, they would be great to serve there. Cookies freeze well also.

We're having cookies and milk as part of my DD's dessert table. My husband's family are originally South Philly Italians and I can't imagine a wedding without trays of biscotti, pizelles and all those fabulous cookies with pignoli nuts decorated with jordan almonds for luck.

I am also from Pittsburgh and will be having a cookie table! I didn't know this was a tradition mainly from our area! However for my cookies, FH's grandmother, stepmom, and aunts make the cookies for everyone in the families wedding! So yummmmmyyyyy! Not sure as to what kind we are having yet, but I know they will be good, they are all great bakers!

    ALL THE COOKIES!!! Smiley laugh

As a fellow 'Burgh Bride, we will have a cookie table at our reception as well!

I am fortunate that two of my cousins happen to own a baking business and will be baking our cookies for the wedding; they're baking about 90-100 dozen, depending on our RSVPs - We're expecting 175-200 Smiley winking

    Our spread will include:

    Buckeyes

    Chocolate Chip

    Ladylocks

    Oatmeal Raisin

    Oreo Truffles

    Peanut Butter Meltaways

    Reeses cup cookies

    Snickerdoodles

    M&M Cookies

    Mini-Cheesecakes

    Apricot Horns

    Nut Horns

It's gonna be fantastic as most of these cookies are old family recipes Smiley laugh
