Cool Alternatives to Bridal Showers

Kaylee, on October 16, 2019 at 12:14 PM Posted in Registry 0 8
I am one of the last of my friends to get married.... at the old age of 25.... 😂

Well, my fiance is 31 and we are both engineers. We make good money, we have everything we need. I don't really want to ask for more stuff when most of the people we are asking from have their own expenses (i.e. children, college loans, new house payments....).

What have other people done to avoid a registry of expensive stuff, but still give your guests the option to give if they really want to?

There are different kinds of "themed" showers out there, that are less about gift giving and more about fun. Like a recipe shower. The guests bring recipes on cards. Or a stock-the-bar shower, where they all bring different kinds of alcohol. There are others, I just can't seem to pull them out of my brain, which is almost dead from wedding planning! lol j/k.

Help me out here fellow brides. What are some others?

Hi Kaylee!! I love Cristy's idea of a recipe shower!!!

It would be such fun to collect different recipes from all your family and friends. If there are some favorite recipes that you know someone makes, you could even request that one from them! 😃

I love the stock the bar idea! If it were just me drinking, it'd all be moscato.... so probably good idea!

You can do a honeymoon registry! Guests can pay for or contribute towards experiences on your honeymoon, or spa treatments, or a private dinner on the beach, etc. Great alternative to a traditional registry!

I went to a "gift-card" shower. Each person brought a $25 gift card of their choice to the shower. People brought everything from home depot gift cards to olive garden gift cards.

Right?! I think it's a fun idea! I know someone that did it and if we didn't actually need stuff when we got married I think I would have done it too. The cool thing is people can decide how much they want to contribute, they don't have to pay for the entire thing. Like if they want to put $40 towards a dinner, not pay the entire $150 (or whatever it would be) they can do that! And it gives people the chance to still gift you something.

I love this idea too. $25 somewhere we normally go still helps with expenses. 😊
