Coozies as a wedding favor? Cheap or not?

Okay, So I found a woman who is having a great sale on personalized coozies. I think they are a good idea for a cheap wedding favor. Only problem is the FH thinks they seem trashy and cheap. Our wedding style will be hippie/boho esque and will be outdoors. I think it will fit our style very well,...

What is your opinion?

I've DJ'ed a few weddings where koozies were made available. I believe every instance was an outdoor summer wedding, where the koozies would serve a practical purpose in keeping beer cold on what could potentially be a very hot day. Not to mention, they keep the "sweat" (condensation) from getting all over everyone's hands, so when a slow dance comes on, your hands aren't cold, clammy and wet from the beer you just put down before heading to the dance floor.

As with ANY wedding favor, no matter how cheap or expensive, there are always several which are left behind -- either because too many were ordered, or because a handful of guests left them behind. For an indoor venue where there is air conditioning, koozies really aren't necessary so you might find most guests just tossing them aside.

In my opinion, the price quoted seems fairly inexpensive (I always expected they'd cost more, though I've never actually priced them out), so if you're not concerned about people discarding them at the end of the night, go for it... especially if you'll be outdoors. But if you'll be indoors and/or if you don't have that many "memorabilia collector" types on your guest list, you might be better off putting the cash toward something else.

What @m said, they're like a scrapbook in the South. I have friends that hate them, but most of us collect them and then put all those momentos out at parties in a basket so every guest can keep their beer cold. I love going through my friends' koozies at parties. "Oh yeah, remember that wedding, that was great." "Oh yeah, that graduation party was so much fun."
