Corona Bride! July 2020 ceremony, October 2020 reception - what to do?

Courtney, on May 12, 2020 at 10:54 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3

Hey my fellow corona brides!

I am looking for some advice in my planning process that has been taken over by the corona virus! Our wedding was scheduled for July 18th 2020 but due to covid-19 we very well may have to push it back to October 2020. Regardless of what happens, we are still getting married in the church on July 18th 2020 with just a small amount of family. We live in PA! The ceremony would be just us and a few members of our family with the reception being rescheduled to October. Heres the thing, I really want to have a ceremony with my bridesmaids and groomsmen so we were thinking of having a little "fake" ceremony prior to cocktail hour at the reception. Our venue is willing to work with us on this. Im looking for advice on how to have a little ceremony take place, nothing crazy. Who do we have speak, what do we even do!?! Im clueless however, I have my heart set on having the actual ceremony feel and I would love for members of our families/friends be able to witness some sort of ceremony. Any input would be greatly appreciated Smiley smile Wishing you all the best during this crazy trying time!

Why not do a vow renewal? You can always make it a shorter ceremony but that way you get that experience to share with your guests (and wedding party).

    Hi Courtney,

I love the suggestion above! You can also get married in July and then host a larger reception in October where you showcase footage and photos from your July ceremony. I think you guests will appreciate this!

I had my wedding (may 30th) livestreamed so we are going to tweak the video and show it at our reception in August. I also put off all my bridesmaids' and groomsmens' photos to the reception. I, too, am trying to figure out how the logistics will work. My reception may end up being smaller but i am looking forward to it nonetheless.
