Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

I relate to this so much, with one big caveat--I'm not out working on the frontlines! Thanks for all you're doing and sacrificing!

My date is 7/11 at a venue across the country from us and most guests. Our venue is seasonal, only hosting weddings for the summer, so they haven't yet let people push back dates or hold dates for next year. My planner, catering, etc. is through them and that's almost $9k in deposits alone, so i can't really postpone without working something out with them. Friends and family are already asking about the status of our wedding and I know most people would be more comfortable with it postponed to next year. I feel like early May is the latest we can reasonably wait to let our guests know what's happening. I also hate that we're losing out on all the pre-wedding stuff. It sucks reading how everyone has been able to work so well with their vendors when I just feel stuck. I feel like many people (including myself a lot of the time) are in denial about how slowly the country is going to reopen.

All my vendors can make it to my changed date except the restaurant...I'm really struggling. Mine was supposed to be May 23 and now I'm looking into November. Horrible, this has been a real nightmare Smiley sad

Postponing. Our initial wedding was on April 18th, 2020 (tomorrow ☹️). We then rescheduled again to June 13th, 2020. With everything going on currently, and the coronavirus looming over the event, we finally decided to postpone to May 2021. It’s a very challenging time. Best wishes to all—stay safe and healthy 💗!

We were supposed to get married on May 17th and moved to August 23rd. I pray we won't have to move it again. If so we are waiting till late July to make the final decision.

Our wedding date is 8/8/2020 but we are currently setting up a postponement date for 2021 to be safe. We'd love to keep our entire vendor team so we thought better to be safe. I don't know how your situation is but I live in MI and the wedding is in VT so that also makes it a bit more complicated to keep our original date as I can't travel there in the coming months to finish the planning. So even if August is fine I don't know if we'd be able to pull it off successfully. 😬 we also have older family members attending and until I know this is all gone or there is a medication for it I don't want to risk it. Talk about stressful. I'm just thankful my family is healthy and it gives us much more time to make the party bigger and better. I also don't want a single person at our wedding to be worried about hugging or dancing with others if it is still around.

Same here! I’m feeling a little bit better about it in the past few days than I have been in the past couple weeks. It makes me feel better that other brides are holding onto their July dates too. We are okay if everything doesn’t go 100% according to our original plan! It will be great no matter what! Just rolling with the punches Smiley smile

Our date is 7/18/20 and we just put a 2021 date on hold with our venue. Question for all of you summer brides— has your venue given you the option to book a Saturday in 2021? Not hold, but actually book. My venue said regardless of what we do for 7/18/2020, all 2020 brides are not able to select a Saturday in 2021, despite there being plenty of available Saturdays. This seems so ridiculously unfair, so wanted to know if other venues were going by that same policy? Shouldn’t we current brides get first pick of dates for next year? Why are they prioritizing new couples over current? All a money game I guess...

I am just ramping up to plan a wedding for December 12, 2020 in western PA. I think it will be wise to have a contingency plan and ask vendors to put a COVID-19 refund clause just in case things are still restricted in December. I hope we are back to semi normal by then!

Is that statement in your contract? Our venue was saying something similar (but more so about not rescheduling yet & they were incorrect based on the contract we signed) and after some heated discussions unfortunately about the contract and having lawyers look over it and getting our coordinator involved we were able to come to an agreement & move it.
