Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

Exactly!! I envy the people that can work through this and make the best of it, but this is something I’m struggling so much with! It consumes my mind all day, every day! My dress is everything I’ve ever dreamed of and more! And the thought of my dad walking me down the aisle and watching my mom and other family and friends watching us... I NEED THIS DAY!

Oh Christina, I understand all too well. When I'm not consumed by work, I'm just thinking of my wedding that I'm not sure will happen the way I have always envisioned. Ugh, this whole situation just sucks. It was not supposed to be this way. And I feel so wrong even having these thoughts. I feel like I should just feel fortunate that I don't have to leave my home, that I can work from home, that my family and friends are healthy. Don't get me wrong, I do feel fortunate for all of those things, but I just can't stop feeling sad constantly. Does that even make sense??

It makes perfect sense because it’s identical to how I feel! I feel selfish for being so worried about my wedding when I know what’s going on around me. And of course I feel so horrible for all of the families and people that have been so less fortunate than my family! We all have our health and jobs and I’m so grateful for that! This is horrible and has done so much harm emotionally and physically to way too many people. I’ve been through some hell of relationships and the fact I have found my happily ever after and it could be taken away from me is just so heartbreaking! When is your wedding??

I am so thankful to have found this site and to have connected with other people who feel the way that I feel. Our wedding is August 21st, but we live in NYC which is going through such a tough time with this virus. How about you?

Mine is September 5th so not too far behind yours. I have a third cousin who has the same wedding date as you and she’s going on as planned as of now. I’m in Buffalo, and while we aren’t hit nearly as bad as you guys, we have a lot of cases and they keep changing when they think we will teach our apex... now some are saying it won’t be until June. And even if the state as a whole is getting better, it takes one wrong decision to open up before we are ready and we are back to square one! I almost get mad at the people that tell me I need my back up plan but I want my day! But I know health and safety is the most important. I just wish there was a glimmer of hope but this whole thing is just so unknown!!

We live in Buffalo too!! Our date is October 2nd. My makeup artist said that some bride's who were supposed to get married in September and October- their venues cancelled and made them reschedule.

Where are you getting married at? We are doing the Lafayette and as of right now they haven't cancelled any fall weddings. I just don't see how in 5 and a half months that we will be able to have an event with 160 people when they don't even have a vaccine or treatment yet and the numbers keep going up with the extreme social distancing measures.

I agree! I know they are doing everything in the state very carefully, and I'm so glad that's how they're doing it. I don't want them to rush into opening things back up if we're not ready to do so. I just wish I knew what August had in store for us. Governor Cuomo and the mayor of NYC believe that the city has reached the plateau and cases are starting to decrease. BUT, even though cases are decreasing, we still have a very large amount of daily cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. I want to start hopeful and optimistic for us that we will have our weddings!

Oh no!!!!! My venue is Babeville. I talked to them a couple weeks ago to see what was going on with them and suggestions he had and as of now they are still planning those weddings to go on! But anything can change at any minute and they can cancel! There’s no way to have that many people in one room at one time! We thought if things open up back then that we cut out all the extra invites and just have our families and bridal party to practice better social distancing. But no one knows what it will be like at that point!

This news made me sick, but I’m very glad you told me!

I was just told by another girl that in Buffalo venues are canceling the Sept-Oct events. That just threw any optimism I had out the window! All we can do is hope and pray and see what happens! 🤞🏼

I almost don't want to call my venue yet because I don't want hear that news that it needs to be cancelled. I mean I was told to wait until the end of the month to call back so we could discuss the wedding. Even if we could have gatherings of 50 people, I just don't see how that would work for a wedding. Do you only have 5 or 6 at a table instead of 10? Does everyone wear a mask? It's just not how I want to remember my wedding. I just keep hoping and praying that there's a breakthrough somewhere!

Mine was supposed to be March 21st and we were supposed to have 120 people and we postponed ours to July 25th. I am delaying sending invitations because I don’t want to re-postponed the big celebration.

Our wedding date was May 2, 2020 and we decided to postpone to September 26, 2020. It was a hard decision and I pray everyday for everything to get better so that we can all share our special days with our family and friends.

I’m in Manhattan and originally date was 7/3/2020, we postponed to 9/3/2021 three weeks ago. Our guest count is 150 and 1/3 of our guest list is flying in from other countries, remaining 2/3 are domestic and local.

My wedding is in January of 2021 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and I’m honestly doubtful of what to do at this point. I’ve paid all my deposits and I’m trying to be positive, but at the same time I know guests like to plan ahead of time. I’m not sure how many will actually be willing (or economically capable) to go if things don’t improve by the fall. I haven’t sent the save the dates until I see how things go in the next couple of months. This is just sad.
