Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

I can relate to your whole paragraph. I feel the same exact way and ours in October. Let’s pray this just doesn’t come back in the fall.

I was supposed to get married the 4th of April. I feel your pain. I only pushed back a month to may 22. We will probably end up postponing again but I hope not.

Same here girl! We are set for September 26th! We are hoping we won’t have to postpone but we have came to terms our honeymoon will most likely be the following year. I hate not knowing what it will be like in September!

Yes I’m completely okay maybe doing a one year anniversary honeymoon or even later since I want to try to start a family shortly after the wedding! There is just so much unknown it’s so hard to know what life will be like then! We want to do what’s best but we don’t see how we can postpone at this moment in time if there is hope things will be okay! I just need a glimmer of hope!

My wedding was scheduled for July 25th but due to all non essential businesses in my area being closed now through the end of May, planning had to come to a halt. Most venues are rescheduling so there isn’t any dates in the fall that we wanted available, and who knows what type of social distancing restrictions we’ll be on when things open up again. So we’ve decided to outright cancel and we’ll elope. I refuse to add anymore stress to our lives than we already have just trying to stay afloat. I’m wishing the best for all of us brides out there. ❤️

I’m September 17, and I think we are going to postpone. We are scared that even if the world gets better, we don’t want to put our high risked loved ones at risk even if things go back to normal. I’m praying for every single bride out there that’s making tough decisions

Did your venue reach out or did you tell your venue that you wanted to postpone? 9/3/21 will be perfect, you’ll have more time to plan and things will definitely be back to normal by then.

Hey Sarah, I reached out to the venue and requested the postponement. My parents and siblings are in the medical field so I knew it wasn’t possible since March. In fact my mother an ER physician warned me from end of February! Our international guests were already in lock down and had travel bans in place til further notice and visa appointments were being cancelled. My fiancé lost his job and a friends brother passed away. All reasons I called my venue and pulled the plug. And thanks for your support. It was tough, but ultimately the right call. All the best to you!

Hi Sasha! I’m so sorry to hear about that. My venue said they weren’t letting couples postpone in 2021, only in 2020 which is frustrating. I hope you and your family and friends stay healthy and safe! All the best too.

Hi Sarah, thank you! Gosh, that’s annoying. What does your contract say by the way? And are they giving a date équivalent to the one you chose this year? If not, I would argue if they limit you to 2020 dates that are less valuable they should give you the difference. Hope that helps!

I just postponed mine from July 2020 to July 2021. For me, I can wait to have the wedding I want and planned for. Some don't want to I feel like its a personal decision. Do I think weddings will be allowed? most likely... will people want to come or feel safe? maybe, but its too uncertain for me to want to move forward at this point. Not to mention financial strain people will be feeling once all this is over. I just felt too overwhelmed and sort of guilty sending my invites knowing people will be receiving them in middle of a pandemic. Again, its a personal decision do what feels right for you.

Our wedding date is August 15th and we're in NY so with everything being pushed back I'm starting to get nervous about postponing and how/when/ etc to postpone. We're starting to address the invites so if we are able to we can send them out ASAP. We are planning to send out "We are still going to get married as long as the world cooperates, please keep checking our wedding website for cancellations or postponements." Something along those lines. My heart goes out to all you brides who have already had to postpone. I am losing sleep over this and can't imagine how you all are feeling. Much love

Are you and your partner still getting married on your originally scheduled date or are you moving the entire date to the July 2021 date? If we move our date we are considering eloping on our 8/15/2020 date and moving the wedding itself to another date.

    Hi Morgan,

We originally tried to reschedule for July 2nd 2021 but that date was already taken. Our venue also tried to charge us $15 more per person for a later Friday in July. After discussing with my family we decided to take Friday, September 3rd, 2021 since we thought that date was worth the extra money they were asking for. Our new date is September 3rd, 2021 the Friday before Labor Day still summer but right before the weather gets cool and a seasonal resurgence of this virus. I’m sure if there any September/October 2021 dates left those will be super expensive. For what they offered us three weeks ago for that date, it was a bargain!!

We are discussing the idea of still getting married at the courthouse on our original date but for me I think I rather just wait, and do it on the day we get married. I can wait one more year, as we are not in a rush to have kids or anything like that . We already live together and feel like we are married share finances etc. I obviously want to be married but I also feel like whats one more year? I don't know.

We are thinking of doing this as well! Are you still exchanging vows and having your wedding party and everything at the big wedding? I’m nervous that being married before will take away from the bigger ceremony.
