Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

We were going to get married September 20, 2020 but chose to move our date back to November 13th of this year to give it some more leeway. We are hoping more people will be able to attend at that time! If your venue will allow you to change no problem and your vendors are still able to work with you, I say move your date to a date you feel is best!

Totally agree! This is all so crazy. I am 10/31/20 and one day I am good the next a wreck. I really have to wait until the summer to see what to do. I feel it is just too soon to call it. I am in Ohio our Gov. started 5/1 for vet and dentists and 5/12 for retail, however they extended the stay at home until 5/29/20 so totally confused by that? Now calling it Stay Safe Ohio instead of a Stay At Home order? I empathize with the brides that have had to change their dates. To think next year god willing we are in a much better place than what is going on now. It is all just such an unknown.

Well today was the day I cancelled my wedding, we have no idea when to reschedule and I’m actually Fearful of this becoming so much worse than it is right now. My dream is shattered and I can’t imagine ever having all the people I was so excited about actually coming showing up to a second date. All that money gone.

We are supposed to be getting married September 6. Every time I talk to my bridesmaids or other friends, they seem very skeptical it is going to happen at all. It’s so discouraging and it makes me want to cancel. But I understand that people won’t feel comfortable coming. But our venue won’t let us change the date yet.

Have any fall brides been able to change their date without penalty from their venue?

That’s our date as well. Our venue won’t let us make any changes just yet. It’s so frustrating. I don’t know if I should continue to plan or not. All my friends sound so skeptical but I can’t blame them for not feel comfortable coming. Things are really bad in New Jersey. I don’t even have a dress. I just started looking when all the closures happened. Not what being a bride is supposed to feel like at all.

    Hi Melissa!

I completely agree with you. Our wedding was October 2020 and when we made the decision to reschedule to May of 2021 my stress depreciated. Our venue and vendors have been an absolute gem to work with in the changing of date. They are giving NO penalties, considering we moved our date to a extremely popular month which is May. When we were considering dates I was not even thinking about the month in question, but just to be able to have our wedding not too far out from our original date. It is kind of sad that your venue wont allow you to change. However, its understandable they need the funds to stay afloat. Since we decided to change i am inquiring into wedding cancellation/postponing insurance. I pray things let up for you so you are able to have your friends and family celebrate and rejoice in your union. Praying for you and stay safe!

We moved from May 24th to July 25th. I'm in Texas. Right now our venue isn't allowed to open as it's a bar (bar during the week with weddings on the weekends, 3 story 124 year old renovated house with 2 outdoor patios). We suspect it's possible it may be guest no greater than 50, and we've already talked with the vendor about that. It would be 45 folks on our side and if that's what it ends up being, that's what it ends up being. Original guest list only 83, so not a big wedding to start with. I have a feeling we won't end up having to cull down the guest list, it will happen naturally. Who the heck knows what happens next spring/summer? We want to get married and move our lives forward together. Best to All!

Curious how are you handling sending postponement cards or new save the dates? I feel like sending out a new save the date this early on people will forget the date or will need to be reminded again. Someone suggested I just send out a postponement postcard and then a new save the date when its closer to the wedding next year. What are your plans for this?

    Hello,
I totally get it, and understand that it is to soon to open up. But just have Faith that all will be okay after this pandemic. Our Wedding is 8/22/20. We are continuing planning. We have our reception venue, our DJ, our Photographer we already had(relative). We actually just started back. We are in North Carolina, and we still have that stay-at-home order in place. But our church we be start having Weddings in June. But we pray that all will well at that time.
Also, I will pray for your Wedding to go well in October.

Our date 9/12/20 & we are still getting married but changing from 100 people to small intimate ceremony.
I was totally prepared had all our vendors lined up. We were ready to move forward, but the uncertainty of everything gave us a change of heart about the wedding/reception.
    I can't wait to be Mrs. Frazier❤
