Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

I’m happy your venue is working with you! My vendors have been great. But my venue will not let me pick a back-up date. I’ve been in contact with them this whole time but they officially emailed all the September brides and said it’s up to us if we want to pick a new date or not. They have only winter dates available for 2021. No spring whatsoever and only a few July (which will go ASAP unless I take one soon - my friend rescheduled to July 17 2021 so my options are very limited)... and that just seems so far away! I’d take a winter date if I knew they would have a vaccine or cure by then, but if this virus is going to be even worse during the second wave I don’t know how to plan a winter wedding with potentially having to postpone again! This makes me sick to my stomach every day with not knowing what to do! I wish there was an answer!!

We should be going into phase 2 next week... our numbers keep going down. However, with this past holiday weekend I’m waiting to see an increase next week because no one stayed home! So really, I feel like getting through phase 2 will be very telling. I just hate to keep putting off the wedding changes if I need to make them!

We are so back and forth about if we get married the same day in my church with just our family and friends and have a little party or not or just put the whole thing off to next summer. I just feel like whatever decision we make will be the wrong one.
What are you guys planning on doing?

I’m getting married in nj but live in nyc. Our original date was May 2nd, we postponed it to aug 29th. Now I am going back and forth as to whether I should postpone it to nov 2020 or next year. Maybe make it a baby shower instead? lol I’m in my 30’s which adds even more of a level of anxiety for me as I do want to have kids, any advice??

    Hey Maya,

It’s up to you but postponed our July 3rd, 2020 wedding to September 3rd, 2021 and are trying to squeeze in a baby in between. I am 32 right now and didn’t want to wait any longer to try for kids since we are hoping for at least three possibly three kids. Are you already pregnant or trying to conceive ?

    Hey Sasha!

I’m definitely on the same page as you, would love 3 kids! Not currently pregnant or trying, but want to start trying once we get this whole situation sorted out.

I see good luck to you! I’m sure you’ll come to the right decision. I was stressing about it at first, but then realized it’s a blessing to be marrying the man of your dreams, planning for a wedding and making babies. All great life events that many don’t get to experienced. All the best to you both !

We were org. 8/2/2020 & pushed back a tad bit to 10/4/2020. We are still very hopeful that things can progress forward & we make it before the "2nd wave". We decided on the slight postponement earlier this month & I feel so much better about it. Some guys didn't have the chance to get fitted, some of my girls didn't order their dress and some did. It was a lot to juggle & things seem to be working out better for us so far.

    Hang in there Smiley heart

Made the call to postpone from September 2020 to June 2021. I don't deal well with uncertainty and we really want the traditional pre wedding events like fittings and a bach parties, and so does my fiance. Having everyone we love in one place (which is a lot of people) is the most important thing to us, so postponing was our obvious choice. We don't have a pressing reason to be married, but it does suck to wait almost another year to have this happen. And it will make 2021 a very busy year!

Was a bit of a struggle with our venue at first to get our postponement sorted out and it kinda sucked the joy out of everything, but we were able to move for a fee and keep a nice Saturday date. Our vendors are all available too and they have been so fantastic through all of this.

I'm not "excited" anymore, but I do feel relief at least. I'm afraid our guests will be "over it" by next year. My fiance has reassured me this is an unfounded fear, though. Once we get all our vendors sorted and change the dates sent, we will be going into wedding planning hibernation (hopefully I can!). Trying to approach it like its a whole new plan/event, but with most of the work done for us already. Hopefully late this year after some time off, some of the sparkle will come back.

Hey Cooper! I went through pretty similar rollercoaster when deciding to postpone. In terms of your guests being "over it," I can say all my friends were more excited after it was moved. They said they hope it will be a time to also celebrate the fact that we made it through the pandemic, and can all safely gather together. They can't wait to get out and dance it up, but without worrying about catching COVID. Smiley smile I hope your guests can see it that way, too.

Thanks Byrd! I know being afraid people will be "over it" is an unfounded fear! It's just hard for me to not worry. I think all the stress of moving the date and the uncertainty has manifested as these fears in my brain. But moving the date has definitely made our friends and family more comfortable! Plus, I have to give them more credit. So many of our guests are the type to love celebrating anything for any reason, whether its a birthday or a wedding or just a random Saturday. It doesn't feel like it now, but I hope the next few months we get a clearer picture and things get more celebratory Smiley smile

Hi ladies! It’s been a while since I last commented on this thread, but as the OP, I wanted to update you ladies and let you know that I’ve decided to postpone my wedding again to 04/18/2021. With so much that has happened in these last three months, we’ve decided to push our wedding to next year for the safety and well-being of our loved ones, as so much in the world is unpredictable right now. We will continue to pray, and I hope all of you ladies will get the wedding that you dreamed of! Thank you SO much for sharing your experience with us— I never expected my post to gather nearly 1000 responses. I loved reading about your plans and seeing the WW community uplift one another during this time. So thank you, everyone! Best of luck to all of you beautiful ladies!

We moved out date to 8/22/20 and are in the mid-Hudson region. Our backup plan is renting a tent and having a shindig in the backyard! Fingers crossed we won’t have to do that. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic that we won’t have to!
