Hi ladies,

Out of curiosity, are you ladies postponing or cancelling your weddings? My fiancé and I were supposed to get married on April 18th, but three weeks ago we decided to move it to August 30th. Almost our entire guest list is able to make the new date (~120 people), but we’ll see when the time gets closer. I’m really hopeful about our new wedding date, and I’m praying every day that things start to improve as people comply with the new guidelines— I would be so happy to see some kind of normalcy by June. What are you ladies thinking about doing?

Hi Christina. We are Sept 6 in NJ and I completely understand the anxiety. We had actually just locked down our venue in Feb and were starting to plan. It’s made me second guess everything and I don’t know whether to continue planning or if it will mean losing more deposits to keep everyone safe. Worst is that I don’t have a dress and have no idea when the stores will reopen (obviously closed for good reasons). As a bride not even having my look together makes me to want to plan at all.

I feel the same!! Mine is September 12 and I don’t know what to do. I keep going back and forth over it and I’m honestly just completely overwhelmed, as if a typical wedding wasn’t going to be overwhelming enough 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m right there with you...

Thanks so much, I really need all the reassurance I could get. I agree, this all really sucks. There is also the bachelorette party to consider. Mine was planned for a weekend in New York, that’s definitely not happening now. Maybe I’ll do it in Mexico a day or two before the big day. I really wanted to spread it out, milk the bride position if you will, lol. So much for that. I wish you nothing but the best with your wedding and your marriage. That’s what we’re doing this for, happy marriages. May your days get better as we grow closer to your day

Ours is scheduled June 16 and we have family traveling with us from Illinois and Kentucky for a Florida beach wedding. Our rental beach house is in Alabama so I just have no idea what to do. As far as vendors, they haven’t cancelled or requested postponing at all. In fact the beach house rental agency is advertising “quarantine with a view”. Heck we can’t even get through any of these states for travel regardless. And the beaches are closed do what the heck are they doing? So weird. It’s pretty much locked down here in Kentucky. My dress fitting has been rescheduled 3x and I’m not sure if and when I’ll be able to get that situation taken care of. If it comes down to it and I have literally no choice, we will still marry somewhere locally (if we can get our marriage license) on our scheduled date and do a vow renewal ceremony at a later date when all this is over. Have no clue what I’ll wear. Hmmm. Keeping our families safe is of upmost importance. Obviously I’m still heartbroken at the thought of my dream wedding being ruined but safety is priority. Stay safe everyone. Praying for patience and health through this awful situation.

We moved our May 8 wedding to August 21 weeks ago. Unfortunately I am now worried August isn’t late enough. Thoughts? I know it’s impossible to predict as the virus does not have a timeline. I don’t want to put any of my guests at risk.

I hear ya! I have almost everything planned so I’ve got to think fast because of my vendors and not wanting to lose money. My venue will be accommodating but it doesn’t mean I’ll be able to keep all of my same vendors if I have to change my date last minute. I’m so torn!

At what point did you decide to officially postpone it? We are may 30th and are still holding onto the slightest hope that it will resolve by beginning of May.

We are in the same boat. Our wedding is October 17, 2020. But the venue is optimistic that everything will be normal by then. I'm thinking about some of our family members who are not working now. I'm stressed out.

Hi Jessica! I was also a May 30th bride to be. I decided to postpone about a week ago to October 2020. I know some brides on here are rescheduling until 2021, but for me that is way to long and I want to be married by then and start a family. I think it depends a lot also in which state the wedding is supposed to be happening. Mine for example is NJ, which is one of the top leading in covid19 cases so I was very concerned about the safety and well fare of my guests.... Best of luck to you fellow May 30th bride. In my mind, May 30th will always be our date.... I’m trying to at least be legally married on May 30th and have a very very small ceremony with just the minimum necessary in order to be married. My heart goes out to you and all other brides to be this is impacting!

I’m getting married October 17th and I’m already looking into postponing my wedding due to the fact I’m unsure if my guests will feel safe to come. I just emailed my wedding planner to get an idea of what my next steps are. I didn’t even get a chance to do our save dates or go shopping for bridesmaid dresses. I think 2020 should be cancelled lol

Hi there! My wedding is scheduled for 9/19 and we’re trying to decide if we’ll have to postpone. No one seems to know what things will be like in September but I don’t know if I should keep planning or not. So sad! Keep me posted on what you decide!

I haven’t made any decisions yet. I’m waiting until May to decide. I’m so torn over it. My fiancé thinks we should go ahead and reschedule for next spring but I just can’t bring myself to be ok with that yet. What if September comes and this is all a distant memory that has already blown over? I’ll hate myself for changing our date. What if the weather is PERFECT that day?! I will have thrown it away for nothing... and he says “what if the second wave hits and everything is ruined”... to which I responded “what if it happens again next spring, what if it happens next summer, or fall...I can’t live like that ya know. For now I’m keeping my date and I’ll keep an eye on the world and changes and if we need to change it later we can do so.
